Bloomin In June
Greenthumb, I can't tell you how much I love your posts with photos of your plants. I just salivate looking at those beauties! Each so unusual and elegant and lovely.
Thank you Happy! I just love this time of year when every day we have new blooms in the gardens. Tomorrow we get again to see whats new.
You have so many tiny wildflowers. I don't see how you can keep everything straight. I'd be walking on the wrong plants all the time!

Gorgeous photos, Greenthumb! I have a red astilbe but it is not doing as gloriously as your peach one is doing!
None of my Astilbe are doing much yet either.
I sure do agree Happy, I really enjoy Greenthumb's pictures so many different flowers. I would love to see his gardens some time.
Gita, Mine gets some sun but it is pretty protected there. Ric had it in the GH all winter and it was just about ready to bloom when I set it out there.
Beautiful blooms, everyone. Holly, my Brazilian Plume Flower isn't blooming yet!
Gita, it came thru the winter indoors just fine.
Greenthumb, great pics. The Astilbe IS lovely and your Poppy is fantastic. Got my first Poppy bloom this year and it's wonderful to see "in person".
R_R_R - I too really enjoy seeing a new addition blooming for the first time. I have some Poke Milkweed and some Purple Milkweed I started from seed 2 years ago that are budding up and I can't hardly wait to finally see them in person .
Speaking of seeing some thing bloom for the first time in person, here are some progrssive shots of the
Acanthus 'Summer Beauty' I have reserved for Ric and Holly.
Happy, is yours blooming yet?? Pic 4 is how I imagine yours to be looking about now.
Greenthumb the Blephilia you gave me is blooming, too. Your pictures are like a walk in the woods for me, something I spent most of my chilhood doing and even now sustains my spirit for the long haul. Look forward to todays reveals!
Nothing fancy.
Pictures 1-3 are noid azaleas. The one by the tree is a ground azalea, doesn't grow over a foot tall and just creeps around rooting itself. Great weed surpressor but not a fast grower. And some astilbe getting ready to bloom. One is a Monster, it is at the bottom of a down spout and obviously loves the flush of water.
David, I just trimmed up your absinthe plant from the fall swap, it was super leggy. I love the silvery feather like foliage. I wish it liked more shade so I could mix it in with some azaleas. Thank you
Coleup -- no, my Acanthus isn't blooming yet....
Coleup -- no, my Acanthus isn't blooming yet....
Terp -- I love your ground cover azalea -- any idea what it is?
No idea, happy. If you want a starter I'll dig up a baby and set it aside for you.
Terp: I would love that! It would work so nicely on the hill in my back yard!
Just took some pics of the low growing azalea I have that stays 12 inches, but has spread 4 feet in each direction. The blooms are huge and long lasting (3 weeks now and pics are after tremendous down pour yesterday) I haven't let mine root but it would be very easy to 'brick down' a few.
If I'm remembering correctly mine are 'Hilda Niblett' most years without the color variation and uniform as pictured. Floats just above liriope . Gets 2-3 hrs of morning sun and some dappled afternoon.
Judy that tops my red/orange! Mine just started to bloom a few days ago, I would expect it to bloom for two weeks max. I really enjoy it as something different.
Wow Judy! Who knew. Nova Zembia is a good one.
I don't think that is rosebud, rosebud is more compact maybe?
I could definitely be wrong.

Judy -- that Hilda Niblett variation is wonderful.
I have ONE bloom on my native honeysuckle! I wonder how long it'll take before it starts looking like Jan's gorgeous honeysuckle!
Terp, how's your honeysuckle doing?
Growing like a weed. It needs to be more in sun to bloom I would guess. I need move it. Lol.
Looks gorgeous. Soon it will be towering over you....
Any idea the cultivar SSG? Did you see the size of the one at Jan's?!? It was a monster.
Hehe. Is that a good thing? SS did you get that from me last spring at Ric and Holly's?
I moved my Oak Leaf Hydrangea out of the sunny spot that was doing it in and it looks so very happy in the new Evergreen Grouping. Not sure it will bloom this year it was in very bad condition last year and I split it when I removed it. I will keep an eye on it to see if it blooms.
Jan it is a great thing! Beautiful specimen.
The oakleaf hydrangea is "Snow Queen," which is supposed to stay 4-6 feet tall. But then I also read that it "matures" to 8-10 feet tall. I actually wouldn't mind it if it got that big. :)
I'm so pleasantly surprised that it's blooming! I had a heckuva time digging out the soil in that area. It had been sheet mulched, but it wasn't deep enough for the rootball, so I had to break up the clay/rock with a pick ax.
Jan, I don't remember seeing an oakleaf at your place! The hydrangea I got from you is in a protected corner in another bed, recovering from a brutal summer last year and then being stomped on by the fence installers. It's a bit smaller this year, but looking really healthy!
Ah yes, Snow Queen. She is a wonder, very similar to Snowflake I imagine.

I have one, I can't remember which at the moment I'd have to check the tag.
Ooh, Terp, Snowflake is what I really wanted but couldn't find it last year at any of the garden centers! Something about availability issues with the wholesaler. Snowflake's supposed to have big double blooms that last for months.
Mine is a NOID. I got the grounds crew to give me a sucker from my former workplace. I really like it.
Snowflake is very nice
Lovely hydrangea, SSG! There are quite a lot of them outside a building in Baltimore on my way to work everyday. They were big in the past couple of years, but was cut down to about 10" early this spring before they started to leaf out. Now they are nice and compact, about 3' tall, and are all blooming. Guess they react well to hard pruning.
I got a small division of Oakleaf Hydrangea from Jan at the swap last year. It lived through the hot summer and the winter, and grew 2 new branches this year. However, deer ate the new growth :-(. Now I have only one bare branch on the plant :o(. I don't think it is dead. I just need to give it time to recover. There is always next year.
Oh, bummer, Donner!!
Bummer indeed, Jan. Oh well. As I said, there is always next year. It seems to rain every time I spray deer repellent :o)
A few photos from my garden:
1. Peony - not sure of variety. Bought it years ago when I didn't understand the importance of keeping plant IDs.
2. Indigo - grew it from seed 5 years ago. It first produced 1 flower in the 3rd year. It is finally a decent size plant now.
3. The very first lily of the year.

Love your oakleaf hydrangea, SS! Such lovely blossoms.
Snowflake is stunning--and fall color, too! I love it when a single plant delights me in more than one season!
I've been working on selecting shrubs for along my fence line in the backyard. I got a Nandina domestica Royal Princess and a Vibernum Mohawk, but they are still young and I still have way too much naked fence... Maybe I'll join you in your hunt for Snowflake!
Donner--love the photos!

ooh, Donner, love the bright blue of the Delphinium. Is that Blue Mirror?
Love the Kouso dogwood--so nice to have late blooming trees.
I have not seen a Jack in the Pulpit since I left PA. We had those in the wild flower garden.
That lilly is beautiful Jen.
Jen--
I was also gifted that DL from a woman at work-- named Susan.
It did bloom last year--haven;t seen it bloom yet--so far.
It sure has unique coloring...
I have several other DL'ies--all pretty colors. Will post them here when they "pop"...
G.
