Byrne Farm Market on Rt. 537 down the road from me has several different color honeysuckle and I was amazed at how beautiful they are. I only remember the old white ones that grew on the hedgerow, Cole, yours is beautiful. Our roses are not even getting buds yet, but we had cut them back late, so it may not be a good year for us.
By the way Jen, t hose are very pretty flowers in your pictures. Your gardens must be just gorgeous. I am so much of a container grower it is sickening. I love no weeds, lazy me.
We were discussing a possible school at Longwood Garden on one of these threads and I forget which one it was, but I found out that is is not really a school. It is a two year program and they only take so many people each year and you sign up to live, eat, sleep and work there for two years. Then you get a certificate saying you completed the two years but it is not a certification from any school or from them. No credits, etc. So now we know. I do know the kids I know that completed it have done a tremendous job with the plants they are growing and the hanging baskets are just beautiful and massive. I am impressed.
Hotter than blazes here, pollen is off the charts, must water daily and that about says it all.

I forgot I took this one yesterday. I was looking down the middle of it and decided to snap a shot. No name of course.
It is more blue and tan than the picture shows. Amazing colors. The Christmas trees in the back field are full of new growth. I can share a pic of them with you too.

That is so pretty Ju. Isn't it amazing how these flowers are all different and so perfect in shape and colors. I love just looking at them. I brought some yellow iris in today and it has an odor I am not sure I really like, but I like them. I cut them off because they were laying down they are so top heavy they just fall into the path of where the mowers go. Nice to see you again Ju.
haha. I am teachig my husband that not all flowers are for smelling. But some of the purple iris have that grape scent,mmm. I'll try to load some pics tonight. tomorrow AM.... turned hot as blazes here yesterday and I fear its the death knell on the current iris.

A peony, first year of bloom. Festivus maximus maybe? I can't recall. And our native blue eyed stout glass flopping all around, I rather enjoy it.

Jen,I have a large tall purple-blue one that I think smells grapey. I think another smelled good too- will try to smell again tomorrow. But not like were' talking GREAT scent. Have to get close.

Paul: Yes, that should be festiva maxima. As to the meadow rue (Thalictrum aquilegiifolium), Mobot says it is easy to grow from seed -- http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/gardens-gardening/your-garden/plant-finder/plant-details/kc/i910/thalictrum-aquilegiifolium.aspx .
For info on sowing, http://tomclothier.hort.net/page04.html says "Thalictrum aquilegifolium, chelidonii, dasycarpum, dipterocarpum, flavum, foetidum, lucidum, minus, revoltum, and rochebrunianum , Sow at 20şC (68şF), if no germination in 3-4 wks, move to -4 to +4şC (24-39şF) for 2-4 wks." But I couldn't find a source of seeds. I never remember to capture seed from my plants....

Sally, I would like to see your yellow French Iris.
The Rhodo and Azeleas are all blooming and the Allium are up I really like these plants need to get more of them. Going out side soon to see what new Iris are opened.
Holly, I need to get at least 20 more purple sensations. It's taken me this long to realize that purple is my favorite color in the garden.
I'm looking forward to the fall bulb group order!

So lovely and absolutely wonderful to start the day looking at this thread. I wish we had a way to smell them. I must sniff every flower I see and that is a bad habit to get into. This frustrates me not being able to sniff these. LOL
This is the second or maybe third year for the smaller allium and first for the taller bigger ones.
Gita, Beautiful pictures really love that Clematis and the blue and white iris.
It keeps raining of me. Just little showers every time I think it stops and go outside to do a small job it starts again. I have a small be I want to weed probably just a 15/20 min job and right now with the rain soaked ground it will be an easy job.

I like the color on that yellow/peachy iris
Weigela 'Ghost' , Aquilega 'Yellow Queen', Dutch Iris 'Golden Beauty', Veronica 'Crater Lake Blue' finally have blooms after 3 years but I had to search for them, monster Salix integra ‘Hakuro-nishiki’ I really need to do something about that next year
Dianthus with geranium, dianthus by itself and Salvia 'Wild Thing' just planted last fall

The iris leaves in the 3rd picture are variegated. Are they the leaves of the orange flowers in the pictures or do they belong to a different plant? I have a variegated iris that I have been nurturing for years and years without making much progress. It gives me a couple of flowers a year, and is always on the verge of dying. Its flowers are a very pretty light blue though.
Terr(roses) recognize the sand cherry? hard to believe it was just a cutting
Gita that white one is really pretty and ruffly it is called Princess Bride. The Peach/Orange is Orange Blossom Special.
Donner that is a different iris with the variegated leaves. I have had it for years and it took a long time to take off but it is growing very well but I have never seen it bloom.
OMG, Jen!!! Tomorrow I'll go out and clip every bush!.. How did you go about rooting it?

Beautiful azaleas, Paul. What is the variety of the one in the first picture? I am going to White's on Saturday to get a fragrant azalea for myself. Cannot wait.
Paul--not sure I posted this earlier--but I have an Azalea in the tiny bed in front of my steps
that is just now in full bloom. It is later than all the others. You may not have even noticed it there.
it is kind of buried under all the bulb foliage.
