These are green cuttings. I've only ever done woody beige cuttings. Any suggestions?

Long Beach, CA

I have only ever received green wood when I have received cuttings. But here is the link to the technique I now use. Anyone else rooting green wood? When I have rooted the green cuttings before I just cut them, put them in soil, water and walk away. Roots in two weeks when placed in the shade!

Finger twitching near mouse, can't let this addiction get started again lol.

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

LOL.......what addiction?!? ROFL

I lost a lot of my Brugs a few years ago when an unusual bad frost hit our area, so I thought to myself.........self, no more Brugs......

Well, that was short-lived, because every time I see one at a decent price, I'm all over it. So, I have a few babies now, and two of my original large white ones........

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Years ago,I counted,had 102 in yard,not a big yard,knew I had a problem.
Suess is a gateway for me,would love a Pristine again, see there I go....

Did your cuttings root?

New Port Richey, FL

I haven't lost any of mine. Trying 3 different methods, water, soil and orchid moss. The ones in water have lots of nubbies and roots starting, can't tell with the others, but they look healthy. Thanks again.

You are so welcome. I am happy to share with such a nice group!

I'm thinking my next venture is going to be Whiskers. I had one once, and had to give it up because of something that was going on in my life. My neighbor took it to her warehouse and put it in their employee room that had huge full south windows and it thrived for years. I hear it isn't doing well anymore, but I may be able to get cuttings from it before it totally croaks and start it over. I heard the fragrance was so thick the janitor complained about his sinuses when he had to clean that room.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

so where on the plant do you take the cuttings?

Long Beach, CA

I just cut the next stem up. My plants grow nicely so they always need trimming. I prefer the greenwood so long as it has a few rootlets on the stem.

I don't know what that means!

Long Beach, CA

Greenwood is a new growth that is firm. What I call rootlets are tiny little white bumps on the cuttings.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

ok - thanks!

Well, I've heard it can't be done but so far the dr Seuss green cuttings are putting on new growth. They are in dirt so not sure what the roots are like but there must be some down in there.

Yahhhh! That's what I want to hear.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

buttercup, if they are in dirt, you will see some growth on the stems (leaves) that indicate to you that they are ok.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

if they brown, with no growth coming out, they have died.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I found it best to put the cuttings in a soil mix when the rootlets formed, not letting roots fill the water, they seemed to struggle when a wad of roots were put in soil. As soon as the cutting showed signs of rooting, they hit dirt, letting them form through soil.

Told you I used to have a problem LOL.

Beautiful picture. You grew that in michigan???

I agree with the "rootlets" thing - so now I know where to cut next fall when I start it over.
