Garden Projects #14
onewish1, I am a total veggie at the moment. Blisters and legs burning. But knowing that those lilies are going to be a blooming their fool heads off this summer has me feeling like I can do another day of yard work before a couple of days off. I have to take a friend to the hospital mid day tomorrow so I had better get cracking in the early morning to get the rest of the lilies and a few other things planted.
Best news is that my Big Guy Pal from Brooklyn is arriving tomorrow night to get in some outside time in the garden for a couple of days. He loves chainsaws and heavy duty pruning and has been eying a wild part of our property, so we will just let him go at it. He bought a big scythe to try out, but I am dubious that it will work on our brush. Unfortunately he doesn't love to weed which is my main mission this week. But I am thrilled that he is coming. Patti
WHOA!
I should have gone out there earlier as it was HOT in the sun, so I only got some weeding done, I didn't want to get too dirty and sweaty cause I knew I was going back out to get kids from school and go to post office....there are just not enough hours in the day to get all my stuff done
Patti: The Lama people should pay you to take it away.
Its easy to gather as Lamas always poo in the same place in an enclosed area. They make a huge pile so the farmer doesnt have to scout out the stuff in a pasture, just show up with a front loader.
SIL wanted to raise them.My brother wouldnt stand for it so they compromised and raised Emu's I dont see that as much of a "give".
Awesome list Patti! Looking forward to pictures!!!!
Woo hoo!!!!
Just can't wait to see those lilies blooming, Patti! Jen, you're right about there not being enough time for everything! Jo, gardens are looking great....mine are still weedy....:>( A former colleague of mine raises alpaca here in town....never thought about using the manure....
There's a llama farm about 5mins from here I may have to stop and ask
I got some raking and weeding in before 10 when I had to stop to clean up and take a friend to the hospital for tests. While there it started to rain but now clearing so I may go back out to weed and plant the last batch of lilies. Hard to get going again after doming to a full stop. Patti
I just got back from my art class...trying to paint some of my hellebores.....now, I'm thinking I need to get into weeding mode for an hour.......
You go Marilyn.Weeds will always be there.Painting happens when the mojo moves you.
LOL....true.....not liking the composition, though.....my teacher just came back from London where she received a silver medal for her botanicals at the Royal Horticultural Show.....30 painters world-wide were represented.
I finally took some shots today of the garden. Including some Helleborus. Can't wait to see your efforts. Good advice from Jo Ann. I bailed on the garden in the afternoon save enjoying showing it to our friend who came in on the ferry this afternoon. The harbor was as still as we ever see it, not a ripple. Patti
ooohhh soooo pretty!!!
Beautiful Patti!! I want to plant my butt down right beside those hyacinths and inhale!!!!!!
me too!!
looking good!!!!!
My helebore order came in 3 days.Pine Knot.I will take a page from Patti's book and plant with daffs.
The landscaper said he would be here today to do the paths. He is only 5 days late.

Already pretty but with the plants, beautiful no doubt.
I will post "after"pix
Hope I will see them in person, Jo! Patti, very pretty....the red tulips set the stage for the other plants.....all that bulb planting is paying off!
Marilyn: Are you going to be able to come this year?
Hoping to....Suey will be finished with chemo at the beginning of Aug. & that's when we usually come because my brother & SIL want to get bushels of peaches.....nothing like the peaches at Gro-more or at the farmers' markets!
Nice paths! Much easier for you to get from one area to another.....
The flat even footing is important.
yes it is.. at least to me!!
Yeah....I slid on some loose stones while walking the other day....had a surprising ride!
moved all the 20 yards of dirt in 2 weekends - fastest ever - after not know where it would go I now will need to order more - pictures will follow at a later date
If you run out of projects, there are many, many here, Bill!
Its amazing stamina Bill.
We could all use a "wha clone "
so true
Bill you're such a slacker
DH and friend burned all our piles from the last year that included all the woody prunings as well as a few downed big pines trees and cedars and I didn't have to help. I have some final lily bulbs to plant along with a few other perennials to do today and of course I have more weeding and deadheading to do. Can't believe it is time to begin deadheading the spent tulips and daffs and other spring bulbs that have gone by.
Moving 20 yards of dirt makes my hair hurt. Patti
Bottle some of that energy, would ya Bill!
i do walk like i'm 90 after sitting down later that night........better in the morning
I take an aspirin and have a hot shower after the job is done.It helps with next day stiff muscles.
