New fun feature, we can now have avatars!

Yep, you can now upload an avatar to show up with your forum posts. (no animated ones, please)

Go to your Tools tab, select the 'preferences' option and under the 'your picture' link at the side of the page.

The avatar option is one of the options there..one is for the picture on your profile page and the other one is for your avatar...if you want one.

Cool but they sure are blurry though.

Any way we can make them sharper? I followed the recommended dimensions but it's still blurry!

Thanks, Melody! This is the only site I use with blurry avatars! Maybe a different resolution would help, but see if they have any suggestions. The original image that I'm using is clear as a bell.

I was wondering the same thing. They are so blurry, I'm thinking of getting rid of mine. So thanks, for looking into it.

I DID get rid of mine because it was so fuzzy. A fun feature indeed, but only if it's well done.

Now you can have your avatar "original" or "extra-crispy" :-)

The techs increased the clarity on the avatars. If you have already uploaded it, you can leave it as-si, or re-load it (same picture) and it'll be sharper.

Avatars are traditionally pretty simple images (which compensates for their size)...can you test-drive a less-detailed image?

To tell you the truth, I don't see any significant difference. I increased the contrast on my avatar and that's the only change I see.

The tech team has tweaked the avatar program again and it is much better. See mine.

Currently you'll need to upload something in the neighborhood of 135 pixels wide for it to look nice, but they are searching for a compatible program that will re-size them for you.

Ah, they cleaned it up on the server side. Nice!

They've added the automatic resizer so now, you don't have to worry about manually reducing your images.
