I actually have a number of lilies in containers on my patio. Since it is south facing, it is perfect. I acquired a lot of really nice containers from garden centers that were closing. They were effectively giving them away. I have a bunch of those gorgeous blue ceramic ones (at least a dozen), which present lilies well. I have two so big that I have roses in them. I love them being on the patio because they don't need to be protected from wind and they don't have to be staked - or protected from critters.

I have a Casa Blanca, three Crystal Blancas, a Sorbonne and a gift lily. I also have a bunch of calla lilies. I saw some lily specials this spring and wasn't sure where to put some of the plants. I also have calla lilies and a pink flowering maple and some small shrubs. I actually got the idea when I moved my plants to an apartment for a year when I was moving. Stuffed on the patio, the lilies bloomed really beautifully, and I had the fun of visiting my plants without even going outside.

I realized that I was losing some of my Orientals because they really need an acidic well drained environment. So my speciosums are all in pots outside. Pots used to be a LOT cheaper. I paid $13 each for the ones in the photo - in 2008!

Even recycled and tag sale pots used to be cheaper.

By later today, this trumpet will probably be open. She has a beautiful scent. (That's how I know she's a girl, haha.) I planted these a couple of years ago, but they were so destroyed by beetle damage that I think this is the maiden bloom.

She's a beauty. Do you know her name?

Is it a species Regal? they are fragrant.

I need to do a bit of legwork to see if I still have the packaging for these lilies. The foliage is short and narrow, and the stem is 3.5-4 feet. This one in particular has only one bloom, but its sisters in another garden have multiple buds.

Most (not all) of the lilies have come in the small packaging from Costco as soon as they are delivered in February (or August). The nicest ones are in the shortest supply and sell first, and those are the bulbs I covet. They probably get in about 2 dozen packages of fritillaria. After planting, I pile up the packaging to go through later, and the rest is dependent on how much time is available. Pretty much only purchase Orientals now as the Asiatics have increased at lot over the years.

Nice blooms LG.

Here are a few blooms from my garden today. Here are Ormea and Sunny Crown, planted this spring from B and D Lilies.

Citronella continues multiply every year. I spent quite some time staking the lilies today. The blooms are really heavy, and the stems were on the ground last night after the rain.

Shocking, that's been planted since 2010. I can't believe how quickly this lily multiplied. I'll have to find the tags for #4 and #5.

Well Oberon I dont know-when I went To took at my pkg labels from last year I had only planted Casablancas or Stargazers in that area. Can Stargazers grow that pale? And viewing the pic I posted from my mini ipad now it looks smooshed. They arent. Ha

Duluth, GA(Zone 7b)

Your lilies look similar to Muscadet gardeninfool. I've have several lilies that I've ordered in the past, and what came up wasn't what I ordered. This year I ordered 6 OT Red Dutch, and 5 of them were correct, but the 6 th bulb was not. I've tagged it because it looks like Conca d' Or, so I'll move it in the fall to the area where I have other Conca d' Or planted.

Annette.

Leawood, KS(Zone 5b)

Annette, your lilies are spectacular! They are just loaded with buds - no wonder the stems can't hold them!

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

Annette, I cannot top Leawood's comment. Your lilies are outstanding. Enjoy!

Thanks LG and Marcia. Unfortunately, today I had to dig out and get rid of Toronto, Double Sensation and another lily that appeared to have the lily virus, presenting with broken colors and streaky blooms. I'd rather not let the other lilies get infected. The "bad" ones are now in the garbage ;-(

I started counting the number of lilies that I've been collecting since 2009-2010, not counting the orange Asiatics that were planted before then, and I counted 284 lilies. I tend to get 3-5 bulbs per order, so that when they bloom, they put on a good show. Of course, since then, many of the bulbs have multiplied, so some of them will probably need to be split up, and I'll use them in areas that don't have any lilies planted.

Cem9165-Thanks! I believe you're right-pictures on line of muscadet match exactly. I'm happy with this company's mistake!

More lilies from my garden. I get a lot of them from a good friend who loves lilies and doesnt care about the names at all! If anyone can identify, that would be great. I bought the middle one and think it's French Lingerie

Very pretty! I wish I I had a friend like yours ;-)

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

Gardeninfool, those lovely lilies are day lilies, hemerocallis. Their color varieties are endless. They have fibrous type roots, strap leaves and tend to spread readily. They will take over a patch of land, so be mindful of their location. Ours grow in both sun and shade.

Marcia-knew they were daylilies-I dont have many of the other kind but wanted to show pictures-ha. modern tech should develop two day lily. ;)

Beautiful lilies LG. I just love this time of year. I keep going out to the back deck to enjoy the scent of Shocking. I can't believe how 3 bulbs have multiplied since 2010.

Shocking is a real monster. I have one little guy opening now. It's Tiger Babies. Only about 12" tall so maybe next year it will catch its growth.

Duluth, GA(Zone 7b)

I have the same thing going on with Ormea. One of the plants is barely 1 ft tall, but the flowers have the sweetest scent. I can't wait for this lily to get taller, so I'm not butt up in the air smelling it. The neighbors must think I'm crazy, LOL

Annette, your lilies are incredible! 'Shocking' is a must-have on my list of things to add to my garden. What a wonderful bloomer (or what a wonderful gardener, to get such performance from the lilies!).

Leawood, what a gorgeous background. You have a 'river running through.' Reminds me of my inlaws place in Michigan although the creek was much smaller. what is the name of the yellow lily? Reminds me of Conc d'or.

Leawood, KS(Zone 5b)

The creek behind my property is a spring-fed stream that always has some water in it. During and after rains, it runs much faster, carrying runoff from the homes and streets in the neighborhood. Yesterday we had a 2.5" downpour late in the day and the creek was roaring. Today it's still carrying runoff, so it's a little higher than normal. There is a flock of mallard ducks that live on the creek, so in the spring, you see the adults herding flocks of young ducks around in the water and on the banks, hunting for food.

I believe the yellow trumpet lilies are 'Golden Splendor'.
