Reporting Inappropriate Posts

There used to be a mechanism whereby you could report a post that was inappropriate - violating terms of use in some manner or being rude and confrontational. There seems to be nothing now; even under "Contact Us" there is no category for this type of message, and it's difficult to refer moderators to the post in question. I wonder why this function has been removed, and whether there are any plans to restore it.

I always use the Contact Us and select "I have a general question or comment", then type in, "Inappropriate post" (or whatever the issue is) and the problem is taken care of quickly by the Administrators.

The mechanisms have not changed - the "Contact Us" has always worked as it has (and has never had an option for "insppropriate post.") That is where you can - and should contact us regarding any site question or concern.

Thanks, Terry - and Pirl. I forget which category I selected. I thought that we used to have a red triangle which we could click on when a post was inappropriate, so that the moderators could immediately see what we were referring to, but I may be thinking of a different site.

I did report it; it had concerned me but I only acted when a new member mentioned how turned off he or she was by it. It would be nice to have that category available as a selection so that members would know they'd come to the right place!

That's true :-) We have a red "report a problem" button in PlantFiles, but for reasons that were never clear to me, we did not implement it or a similar feature in the forums. I'll suggest it to our tech team...and at least get a selection on the pulldown list for inappropriate posts.

To help Terry and Melody, I'd suggest we all click on the link of the post we're reporting and include it in our message. It would make their job easier.

Pirl, I copied the post and it seemed to include a link automatically.

Yes, it does. Many just don't do it to make life easier for Terry and Melody.
