Love your swallows Adel! Mine are still picking houses here but not staying. They seem to be waiting for something.

Nanny, your birds are really cute too. That nuthatch is so funny and the dees are adorable.

The mourning doves all seem to be paired up now.
This anna's hummingbird loves the carolina jasmine.
This dark-eyed junco looked cute on the forsythia vine.
And an oak titmouse.
Hope you all have a wonderful Easter.

Great photo's all! ducbucln, Loved all the photos, And, Especially The hummingbird photo!!

Poor Bluebirds are having to fight for there mealies lately, They can trick the robins because they scatter around like a little herd, The Wren doesn't give them too much of a problem, However, The mocking bird is quite the challenge for them! I have to move the feeder to close quarters when the mockingbirds around, But, I don't quite make it everytime and the mockingbird is too much for the bluebirds, So I will have to continuously have the feeder at close quarters I guess! ...

Iris, that bluebird is beautiful and I'm a big fan of mockers so I love your photos. I'm glad you're figuring out how to deal with them since they don't do well sharing.

For those of us that have a hard time telling the difference between the purple and house finches, Cornell Lab has made up a PDF file of great information on the differences between them that you can download. Here's the link-

Here's a photo of one of my rufous hummers.

They certainly ask for great deal information to download. Find that the purple finch is a chunckier bird. GBBC claims the purples are not common in this area, but Mass bird book says that they are.

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

ducbucln, I like the mockers too, Quite the comedians and great copy vocals! ~ I put some mealies out for the mockers too and after there done, I move the feeder closer to the patio for the Bluebirds, If I were to leave it in one spot, The poor Bluebirds would hardly ever get any worms, Working out so far, But, The mockers are pretty bold so I'll have to keep an eye on it. ~ Great photos, That oriole is just beautiful!

Little_things, Nice pic of the king fisher!

Nanny, Thanks!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Duc, beautiful pictures, enjoyed them all
Iris, yours as well. Saw my first Mockingbird last Summer. Quite the bully with the other birds. Saw him annoying a Kestrel for quite a while.
Little, and Adel so nice to see you here again.
Rose, yes still some snow, we had a dusting of it again today, but the weekend was amazingly beautiful and the snow was melting. Great to hear you've seen a Redpoll!!! They are a pleasure to have around.
Nanny and Lily, how I wish those Nuthatches and Red-headed WP would be part of my winter birds, glad you are able to share them here.
WOW, that was quite an awesome list of bird sighting you had, Best Missy. Congratulation.

I am way behind but have enjoyed everyone's photos.

I was out a few weeks ago and spotted "Captain Hook", the male Cardinal that has been around our farm for the past 4 years. I was very happy to see him looking so well and very handsome indeed!

Hi everyone!

I know it has been quite a while since I have been over here to the Bird Watching forum. I went through a pretty traumatic time in the Fall of 2011, and it took a while to get back on track again. All is well now, and I am still bird watching and taking photographs! I see familiar names here, and hope you all have been well! Beautiful photos as always!

I thought you might like to take a look at a thread I posted in the Mid-Atlantic Gardnening forum...
The Hickory Shad are making their spawning run again, and the river draws me to it!

Thanks for looking...
Have a blessed weekend, and I will try to visit more often!

I love seeing your birds, Rian.

Nice shots, nanny and Burn.

Cap'n Hook copes well with his bill extension, Rose. Lovely sight from the window.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks Resin....that is a new one for me!!

I am pretty sure I have had 2 sightings of a Broad-winged Hawk recently. I know it is not a raptor I have already. It appears to be small with a stout body pale underside but very dark border along the edge of the wings and tail . Really need to get a photo!!

What a treat to see the Swallow-tailed Kite this morning. First view of this neat bird in a year...it has been further South for the winter. Also saw a Bald Eagle in the distance and a high-flying Osprey.

The Painted Buntings and Indigo Buntings are still around. Usually they leave earlier than this. Also included one of the Catbirds and a Sparrow.

Hi VA, Good to see you here!

Great shots everyone! I'm still watching for Hummingbirds here. Today it was sunny and 75 degrees! Surprised the Dark-eyed Junco's are still around, I will miss them when they go.

Gorgeous shots, everyone. I'm glad your weather is finally warming a bit - well, for most of you, anyway.

From the river this morning, a Silver Gull. It feet were the brightest red I think I've ever seen on a mature Silver Gull - I've even desaturated the red because it looked just too red. I don't know why it insisted on putting three of the same image and I couldn't delete the extra two.

Pied Cormorant which was raiding someone's crab drop nets. It swallowed this fish, blue nylon tie and all.

Yep, Cormorants are expert thieves!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Love all the pics today! I am going to get a hummingbird feeder ready to put out today or tomorrow. Should have some showing up very soon here!

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

MargaretK, I guess his feet are really red, They do look that way when seen in person too. Nice pics Too!

Little_things, thanyou!

nanny_56, yes they should be showing up for you soon, I was a little worried when I didn't see them here at the same time I did last year, Especially after watching the migration map ( I guess I just got over anxious to see them again ~ And there now here !) Hope you see one soon!
