Purpose of life

A couple of rather philosophical questions: Has anyone realized why we are here on this planet? What is the purpose of our lives here on earth?

If you ask my husband that question he would say that I was put here on earth to drive him crazy.LOL

my husband would say my purpose is to ask him to do something! :)
My answer to both questions lies in the Christian faith.

My husband would say.. ' to go from naught to [deleted] in five seconds' ( excuse the language... dont mean to offend)

me? I have PMS and a handgun... any questions? heheh

I don't think I will ever know why I as an individual am here or what my life means. That is something I will let those I have affected for good or bad determine after I am gone. I am too busy living my life to worry much about its philosophical meaning.

I believe in God, and my purpose is in line with the Christian faith as well.

According to the Westminster Catechism the purpose of man is to worship God and enjoy Him forever. I try to do that and expect to continue through eternity. Part of enjoying God is to enjoy what He has made. I see Him everywhere.

My purpose is to serve Christ and to lead other to Him.

Garrison Keillor once wrote an essay entitled "The Meaning of Life" and the first sentence is: "To know and serve GOD, of course, is why we're here, a clear truth that, like the nose on your face, is near at hand and easily discernible but can make you dizzy if you try to focus on it hard." I think that covers it.

To love someone. To be loved by someone. To teach a child and to learn from the children. To know the joys of true friendship with fellow beings. To laugh and cry,to feel the warmth of the sun and the coolness of a freshening breeze,to run fast,walk slowly and and rest peacefully at the end of a day. To be ever thankful for each moment of this life and for all the wondrous blessings which I am so fortunate to have. Perhaps to do some small good for someome sometime before my time is done and most of all;
For the promise of life everlasting through Christ my personal saviour.
Thats why I am here!

My purpose... to love the Lord Jesus and ENJOY HIM FOREVER!

kmom246, when I was 42 (11 yrs. ago), I told everyone how 42 was the answer to the meaning of life. I had forgotten all about that until I saw your post. Love it!!!
The purpose of my life is to learn to love, have lots of enjoyable and faith-filled experiences during my short stay here, maintain sense of humor, joy, and integrity of the face of chaos - and most of all, staying plugged in to my Creator and learn to worship him.

You mean its not to work all hours and pay taxes?

Has someone informed the government of this? Quick, give me the phone I need to tell the tax office, I'm not here to earn their wages.

My Grandfather would have said the meaning of life was the procreation of the species, he did his bit he had 28 children.

It could, of course, be to wonder about the meaning of life as a self perpetuating question.

Or it could be, to live, have fun and spread happiness as a sort of viral type thing.

I say the meaning of life is simply to BE, but then I'm only a youngin' so i may have to change my mind a few thousand times. Well, I was told its a womans perogative to constanly change her mind.

To honor our maker, love and be loved, To learn all we can
while we are here. As for me I am not going to waste one precious minute.
