Kilobulb Planters 2013

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Carrie, Having your Peace of Mind trumps most things and as you know far better than most that all medical advice is usually a crap shoot. See two doctors and get two different opinions, then see a third and get yet another. Kind of like gardening advice.

I am working on doing the Journal entry work for a nice Lily bulb order that I placed with Touch of Nature. Bert always has good prices and a nice selection, plus he is Dutch and sends great bulbs and nice man to boot, though I only know him via email. http://www.touchofnature.com/specials/spring.htm When he sent me my confirmation and invoice, he said he had to drop 2 that I wanted as they were not available. One of them cancelled was one I already had called Asiatic Lily Double Sensation 5/pkg $5.00 . I first bought 6 of these bulbs from him in 2010 and it is a show stopper in our garden so I wanted more. I did order about 50 bulbs this time that included 7 new varieties for our garden. I am trying to put together albums of named cultivars and species of Narcissus,Tulips & Lilies that in our garden which I will post when they are ever done. Don't hold your breath. Patti

Sounds like a Big Job, Patti, and I agree not to hold my breath. It is co-o-o-o-o-ld here in TX today. I even have an electric blanket on! The main climate difference I have sensed is that inside our little rented house, it ranges from 74-78 degrees F. In Milton, the inside temp ranged from 50-100+ (no AC and not-a-great furnace). Maybe we need more insulation. It's likely.

So did your son leave NOLA for NYNY? That's probably considered a step up. I would hate to live in NY. Congratulations to him.

Yes, son has been in NY for more than 4 years after 2 years as a chef in New Orleans. He worked two years in NYC for Danial Boulud, then he left there to be Chef de Cuisine at a West Village Place called Bobo for last 2 years. In Nov he moved on to help open this new place on the upper west side that is called Tessa It will be a very chic and polished fine dining place, but will have a relaxed atmosphere with a mixture of mostly French, Spanish and Italian food. Fingers crossed that when it opens in March (hopefully) the critics will love it. I will keep you posted. He is loving the process.

Back to bulbs, here is the start of an Album containing some of the bulbs that I have purchased from Touch of Nature. I will be posting more of his when I get them labeled. I have a massive Narcissus collection almost ready to post too. Enjoy. Patti

Believe it or not, spring IS coming! Today's temp (27) belies it, but I feel certain in a few weeks, we'll see the spring bulbs reaching for the sunlight. Last spring, a local photographer and writer visited my garden. Their article just came out in the March-April issue of Kansas City Homes & Gardens (KCH&G). You can view it online here - page 80:

Great photos. We have to wait until June for daffodils.
Keep posting them as they bloom.

Wow, Patti, what pretty lilies and what a lot of work to keep track of them all!
