January thaw is upon us I believe, it's 39 here which is a nice change from last week. :)

41, sunny & windy. colder next week prediction.

Sunny here too, around 40, but DH said the wind would be picking up later. He spent a good chunk of the day yesterday out pruning a couple big stands of sweet ferns (Comptonia peregrina). It was warm but damp so not as nice as it is today. But the thaw is definitely on. I need to get out and rake and start picking up. Patti

Already 38 here....took off gloves, then hat while walking this morning.....going into mid-40s....I can see a patch of green grass....yipee!

We had 16" of snow on the ground a couple weeks ago, and now green patches.

DH just cancelled our trip to Vt as he had planned on skiing on Mon and Tue and it appears that it is going to be raining. Not good for downhill. I would be playing inside while in Vt, so I am happy to stay in Nantucket. Patti

Yeah, not really liking these oddly warm temps.

Loving them....so is my checking account, with saving oil.....saw on the news tonight a bull moose was chasing a skier at Sugarbush in VT....hope that's not where anyone planned to ski!

Oh my!!

Evidently the moose crosses the ski trails as it is easier than in deep snow. No snow for cross country people either says our daughter in MN.

Anyone see the story of the dog mistaken for a lion? Couldn't be a 'baby lion' as reported as they don't have manes.

I saw it on TV Pretty striking. Saw it on TV. Brown mane and buff colored body. The dog looked pretty happy but i wouldn't want to scare people.

If we shaved Cliffy he would still look large, but his color would be more grey underneath and dark brown outer coat.

They did do some dying. Mascot for football game, evidently.

I bet it was a buff colored dog whose "mane" was dyed darker, then.
