trade list

Novato, CA(Zone 9a)

I can't figure out how to fill in my trade list. I tried the help menu but it didn't seem to work. I just kept going in circles. I have noticed other tade lists empty when it has been suggested to take a look at a particular trade list. Am I he only one who can't figure it out? You said no question was stupid but maybe I'm gonna prove you wrong!! Shirley

So did you get it figured out? It is really a neat thing to be able to see what folks have to trade - keeps things simple. The trade tracker is a really great feature too - some of us tend to be forgetful, lol.

Not yet but thanks for noticing. I am gonna try again in a couple of weeks as I will be out of town but I do agree that it is extremely handy. I love checking out eveyone elses and the time has come to put it out there. I would really like to share the bounty!!! Everyone has been so generous!!

thanks!! Shirley

I think one thing that's very confusing is all the catagories that are listed. I don't know about everyone else but I like to have my list all on one page... not divided up into dozens of catagories. If you start out by deleting all the extra catagories you might find it a bit easier. The list I put together for this year I just kept on one page under SEEDS 2001.

u got that right poppysue! i do not know where to start. all i wish i could create for an example:

Lilium

Oriental lilies
Stargazer
Casablanca

Asiatic lilies
Montenegro
Lollipops

something like that... i do not even know how to start the 'Journal'. i tried too many times, i can't go anywhere. very frustrating!!! i guess that is the reason why there are not many listing on members.

it may sound dumb & stupid, but i learned a few years ago, when i attempted to go back to school that it is much dumbmer and more stupid if one never ask a question. i want to learn but do not know where to start... i always hit a blank wall.

MaVieRose and Daltongirl,

Try this:
1. go to tradelist page.
2. click on perennials.
3. go to top of page where it says "add new item".
4. type in you plant info/ then hit submit.
5. you will then have a trade list page.

After you get a couple in, we will go from there if you have any other questions. I got confused too, but it really is not so bad! I will check in with you later!

MaVie, - If I were you..... here's how I'd start. Go to your trade list (under your pages at the right). Then under the main menu - click add an delete categories. Go through and delete all the categories you don't need - you can delete them all if it's easier and set up your own categories if you want. Looks like you'd like a category just for "lilium" (?)... then you can add one.

Then you must go back to your trade list - easiest by clicking the "MaVie's trade list" link again under your pages to the right. Scroll down to "access by category". You should now have a "lilium" category. Click it. There will be a link at the top that says "Add new items under this category". Click the link and it will give you the fields to fill in for the item to add (Name, genus, species, blah blah). Then hit submit. You can keep adding as many items as you want under that same category - like all your lily species. If you want to add to a different category click the "MaVie's trade list" link again at the box on the right and it takes you back to your page.

Probably a round about way of doing it but it works for me.

Thank YOU... Ruby42 & Poppysue :)! i will print ur suggestions and pick it up from there. i will let u know the progress or failure i make. ok guys! i will busy from here on in. ohhhhhhh could hardly wait to put up my trade list.

Poppysue... there are so many different kinds of lilies. lilium is the true lilies... ie the oriental lilies. amaryllis is also considered a bulb or a liy but not, NOt a true lily.

Thank You guys. appreciate that very much! ma vie rose
