Garden Gems 2012 # 9
love the mum & the Vib.
Nice pics guys, so much still going on, lucky us! I'm determined to get some pics today.
Impatiens? Salvia? All of mine are long gone! I had 1 bloom on 5 hydrangeas....after the summer-like temps in March, we had a killing frost in April....all the buds froze.....not many apples around this year, even in the big orchards....none on my trees....
well that stinks
Yes, it does.....plus the early killing frost has blackened all the leaves on the hydrangeas already.....sad...
strange RD.. normally you seem to be a bit warmer than I am
I could keep the temps too... just perfect.. lovely shots Ronnie!!.. do the critters eat those berries on the honeysuckle?
Thanks Allison, I never noticed the berries before, I guess the birds always got to them
Nice pics, everyone! I have so much to do here. Sure wish I had the week off. Next year I'm taking a couple weeks off in the fall just to get stuff done at home.
Karen
Lovely flowers Ronnie
I never saw them before either.. huh
Very pretty flowers, Ronnie.....Allison, I live in a river valley....I think that's why the frosts hit us so hard.....
ah extra moisture
Pretty blooms for this time of the year, makes me smile.
it's cute!
Pretty!
Oh, I love ice plants, but they don't usually do well for me. That's a pretty one.
Karen
Thanks...it was really nice in the summer covered with blooms...
Beautiful photos, Jen! I love Longwood Gardens. Been there twice. The last time was around the same time you were there, and I, too, was disappointed that all the water features were turned off. I did get to see some gorgeous water lilies in bloom, though. Would love to get over there again someday. I went with Dad and my sister Dawn. We had such a good time. We took Dad to his old neighborhood in South Orange, NJ. He really enjoyed getting back there and seeing the old houses where he lived as a child, and going to this big park on a hill that overlooked NYC. We also visited the old church he used to go to, and got to meet his pastor there. And we met up with a couple of our uncles on my mother's side and went out to dinner with them at the Outback Steakhouse. I need to dig up those pics and post on FB. Will probably do a thread of the Longwood Gardens pics here.
Jen, is this a Vitex shrub http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=9316496&extraimg=3 ? I'd love to have one.
Karen
Thanks Jen, can't begin to tell you how those roses brightened my day. (night) LOL
Karen, you know that is one of the only ones I didn't take a pic of the name
but it def looks like one
Thanks, Jen...wonderful photos, uplifting to see this time of year!
Glad that Dad had such a good time.
Some people in our area still have a few roses in bloom. Don't know which ones they are.
Love those orchids!!!
I've had a few roses blooming right now.
I cut a rose this morning, hoping the remaining buds open
I have buds, no blooms...those orchids are beauties!
and that's not even a 1/4 of all the orchids they have(my camera was annoying me in the orchid room)
