wha : those are great views. Do you walk every day?

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

My husband (who helps with my gardens, but is not a gardener) thoroughly enjoys your pics much more than the ones I show him with the pretty flowers. I love the ambiance that they display, also.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i try too - leaving soon as a matter of fact

Thomaston, CT

Pretty! The daylily is really nice.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Nice pics, everyone! I've missed a lot.

Bill, I love the moss covered rocks. Makes me think of the temperate rain forests of the Pacific Northwest.

Marilyn, I love that 'Coral Creme Drop' phlox. Another must have phlox for my wish list.

Karen

Thomaston, CT

Karen, it's a short phlox for the front of the border.......

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Still some nice color left, it can go on as long as it likes as far as I'm concerned!

I agree.....last year spoiled me! Love the dahlias....

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Good to know, Marilyn. Does it get loaded with blooms? I sure do like the color. I just love phlox, anyway.

Very pretty, Ronnie. I must do dahlias again next year. I did them a couple of other times, but didn't do any this year. They make great late season color.

Thanks! Wish I had taken care of mine and got them tied up,they are a mess. Just couldn't get to it, hopefully I will get them dug.

Nice colors still out there

I drove past that house again with that vine that I'm trying to figure out what it is....of course didn't have my camera again...but I slowed down even more and noticed the leaves are very large and almost triangle shape, purpley green in color and it was still blooming

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Jen, what color were the flowers, and how big?

Here are some pics from my gardens today. Taken with my phone, so not as nice as ones with my good camera. My card reader isn't working. Need a new one.

The first pic is of fall foliage on black gum trees
Next is swamp maple and dogwood.
Sedum 'Autumn Joy'
barberry
Pink hydrangea that I recently bought.

nice Karen!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Karen the flowers are very unique shape and purple,(from the distance def doesn't look like a clem or morning glory) but I can't even get more descriptive cause that road is 50mph and hard to slow down too much without worrying about getting hit

Thomaston, CT

I do the same thing, Jen....I'm looking at ducks in the reservoir, trying to ID them.....speed limit there is only 25 though because of nasty curves.....Karen, love the color on the gum trees.......Coral Creme Drop has been blooming for a month now....small plant, but most of it is blossom....

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Nice to know about that Coral Creme Drop, Marilyn. Those black gum trees looked prettier on the screen of my phone. I don't know why pics look nicer on my phone than they do when I get them up on the computer. I like how my real camera takes pics better. Colors look better, and more true.

Jen, maybe you'll get a chance to get a pic sometime soon.

I think Deb has it, the only leaf that is is the right color, surprised to see it's an annual guess they love it so much they plant it every year in same spot

It does really catch the eye as your driving by

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I grow it and save the seeds, I see it can reseed in warmer climates. I like it better than morning glory, and will swap it where I have MG this year.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

That really is pretty. Might try it myself. By next spring I'll have forgotten about it.

Wish I had more places to put a vine.....right now a passionflower vine is all over my garage....no flowers, though :>(

Thomaston, CT

Picking off my dahlias & cosmos....nothing will be left tomorrow......I hate to see the frost hit....last year we didn't get a frost until the blizzard on the 29th.....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Supposed to just hit 32°, will be sad to see my coleus go, was my favorite garden this year

oh they look so nice Jen

:(

The bright pink really stands out....

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I brought all my tropicals in the porch for tonight. Looks like a jungle in there. Brugs will definitely be stored in the basement most of the winter, once they finish blooming. The buds haven't opened yet. I really like that jungle look. Goes with the Aruba room theme we have going on in there, too. I might bring some of my plants to overwinter at our office at work. I'm the one who keeps the plants watered there, and they'll give the place a nice look. I'll ask my managers there if that would be okay.

I took in a bunch of coleus cuttings, as well as some lantana cuttings. I don't know if lantana roots easily in water, but I'm going to try it. I have not yet overwintered coleus, so this will be an interesting experiment.

Karen

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Karen: Be prepared for color changes in the coleus. They put on a different look when daylight is shorter.
They pop back in spring when they go outside.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I only tried lantana in soil.. and they take forever to be something again.. best of luck with your new venture Karen!!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Let me know how that lantana does Karen. I bought a bunch of them for .25 at Lowe's and will keep them in the basement for the winter. I cut all my coleus too, hopefully not to many mealies will appear this year.

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Brought lots of plants in also. I took Gita's advice to use Systemic Granules on them to stop the mealy and other bugs that get on them when they come indoors. Hope it works. With some can't decide which ones will stay in the house and which will go into the garage. Funny thing about my Elephant Ears. The leaves keep dripping water and on some, the leaves are losing their shine.

Thomaston, CT

I've kept lantana in the basement & it did fine, except for whiteflies......this year I have my 2 fuchsia plants, coleus, & elephant ears in the basement......hope I don't forget about them!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I kept a lantana for several years now Ronnie.. they do great.. goes dormant nicely.. usually water every 2 weeks or so.. and I pick up watering when I want it to wake up

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks for letting me know about the coleus, Jo. I will know what to expect.

Allison, hopefully the lantana will do well. I'll have to let you know. I overwintered one in a pot last winter, and it did great. We brought one pot of lantana in last night. They were really small when we got them, and then they finally filled out. They did take a long time. It's nice to know that the lantana will do well in the basement. Next year, if I see any super deals on them like Marilyn got at Lowe's, then I'll snatch them right up.

Roses, I'll have to try those systemic granules. Who makes them?

Marilyn, have you overwintered elephant ears and coleus in the basement before? I'm not sure I will do that. I have 2 EEs, and they would look great in our porch with the Aruba room theme. I have kept my brugs and a huge Crinum lily in the basement. Last year one of the brugs from the basement died, but the other one was fine. I don't know why that would happen. The brug I kept in the porch ended up getting spider mites, but I was able to get rid of them with horticultural oil.

Karen

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I bought merit 75 (expensive) but lasts forever... that one is a water in... only need like a fingernail full of the stuff... and bayer & bonide also make them.. those two are granules you mix in the soil
