Morning Glories 2012 #08

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I love the Lav chiffon ,Helena, it looks like it is made of silk.
The blue blizzard not and blue youjiro are beautiful Jackie. I wish the youjiros made larger flowers, tho..don't you?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debra, yes I do. Sometimes I get a Youjiro bloom over 3 inches across. Pretty nice size.
Rosita which is also a Youjiro is on the smaller side too. Usual size for me is under 3 inches across.

pretty is that shiva or milky way? I have seen the same bloom called both on different seed packets..

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Deb, I'm sure I bought this one as Milky Way.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Hey guys I could use some help with my photo uploads if anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1277532/

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie and Debra. Jackie love all your beautiful blooms. Looks like Mauve splash and Blue Marble not are turning out to be really special! Pretty nice youjiro too, 3 of my favorites.

Snellville, GA(Zone 7b)

I just have to chuckle when I see all the posts and pictures of Morning Glories. Where I live they are considered a weed by many. I have them growing over my trellises, over my roses, atop my garden shed, over my bird bath and even over a shovel I left in my garden. It is one of the most invasive plants I have ever seen. I tried eradicating it but it's impossible due to the many seeds it produces. I finally gave up and decided to try and enjoy them wherever they grow. Occaisionally I do have to get out the electric pruners and cut an entrance through a garden path or pick my grapes that seeem to be hidden in them. I have to admit it is a beautiful flower but boy can it twine. I'm afraid of sitting too long in my yard for fear of.....

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

...being covered by morning glories? I CAN DIG IT! lol

I'd love to see some grapes.
I was looking thru last years glorys and I see a lot of the ones I grew then in my gardens. I just planted some of everything I collected. I also planted some from the swap and private trades, and a few purchased . If I have a new one show up, it is either from a swappee, a trader, or Emma and you two..Some of the blues I know came from Karen2005 purchased two years ago maybe? Glad I saved those seeds.
last year.. came back really big this year..

Beautiful blooms Debra, I envy anyone right now with so many beauties. Yes Debra the Black King is a very dark color like the one I posted. Karen2005 has mg crosses she calls Duskie x Fuji which are hard to separate from the Black King especially if the tag got lost.

No blooms today, too windy and raining too much for me to go out and check in the gh. I also overslept but I see a lot of down leaves and branches from the trees.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Rain hasn't got here yet, maybe not until tomorrow night.
Had a Blue Bliizard in the g house. Temps got so high, my bloom could barely open. I'll have to carry my mg's out until tomorrow when it should be somewhat cooler

Blue Blizzard--- had to pry it open

Fuji no Beni not a pretty bloom today

Shishi botan, love this color.

Pretty nice blooms Jackie. That is a nice color on your Shishi botan.

I went to check inside my gh a little while ago and to my surprise found a bloom still open, label from Karen2005 seed mix. I took the pic with flash on so it came out a little brighter than the bloom actualy is.

Thanks Helena,
Lovely Pink bloom.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

beautiful blooms, I am glad you all are getting some rain, I hope I do..I love the Shishi botan... it is a beautiful color.
yje flash did the bloom justice, Helena, it looks like satin..
Setosa is now blooming, so is little red..split peronality is split..
I am waiting on some other species mgs to bud and bloom... I already feel like the season is almost over when it is almost at peak for bloom production. lobata is still vining, and so is HB, white moon vines, and stictocardia. woodrose ( argea nervosa) and opurclunia and a bunch of others, still vining. They better get with the program!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Debra.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie and Debra. Beautiful blooms Debra, nice capture.

Your Tai Aki is a beauty Jackie.

Still raining here, believe me we had enough of it. Kids are off from school for the 3rd day. I want some sunwhine!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Helena,. Our rain just starting to arrive. I'm still carrying plants down to the g house. They have
backed off of predicting 8 inches of rain for us, thank goodness. More like 3 inches now they say.
I hope everyone will be safe from the flooding in the low lying areas and that the dam holds.

NO Sora

Unknown in g house floor

No Mai, a shame I had my hand in the pic because the bloom was beautiful

LYK blue

This must be Cocoa Choc, showed up in the lg tub out back. I hope
future blooms of this one will be prettier. :-)

This is pretty on the fence with the higes. I'll try to check out its lvs tomorrow for a clue to its id.

Jackie, your bloom is beautiful even if you are holding it. All very pretty, I think the middle one on the top set of pictures is either gray mist or gray haze. You probably can check on the plant files for a more positive id.

The sun finally came out late afternoon. I hope it doesn't rain here for awhile. Had to find a wildlife rescue place for a baby squirrel that our cat brought to us. Spent 1/4 of tank of gas doing that but it was a recent born baby and so cute. Hope it makes it. Jackie, hope you don't get too much rain like we did here.

Franklin, WI(Zone 5a)

Found this one blooming today. And then many common MG's reseeded from last year, I just let them grow. Now I've got a jungle :)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I LOVE your jungle, you and I think alike! love your star of india too. i MISS HAVING THOSE.
Jackie that bloom is even more special cuz you are holding it. Love the no mai and love the cocoa choc. You are growing some beauties this year. Remind me what LYK is?

Thanks Helena. Maybe I'll get time to look at plant files tomorrow.
We've been getting rain off and on all day. I'm hoping tomorrow will not be an all day
rain event.
Glad you were able to get the baby squirrel to a wildlife rescue center

Seedsower pretty nil bloom and a lovely Purpurea jungle.

me too Helena, I am glad you are a rescue person.
send the rain this way please?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Debra. Love this set you sent. Is that 1st pretty bloom Youjiro aka Rosita?
I love all your blooms though, all very pretty.
Deb,LYK is Beckys cross and the LYK stands for Lady Yaguruma Kaleidoscope. I know
one parent was Yaguruma Blizzard but cant remember right now who the other parent was.

Gautier, MS

Love all your blooms Debra and Jackie. Your dark and light blue blizzard catches my eye Debra. I love your soft blue light blue too Jackie.

My kids and now grandkids whenever they find a animal in need I end up rescueing and caring for. Here's a pic of our little baby squirrel before I took it to the rescue place. It was so cold, they told us to put it with a bottle of warm water to raise its tempterature.

And my only mg today.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Love the little squirrel!
Jackie that gray MG is spectacular!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Ronnie. It came up by itself in the g house last summer, 2011. A dropped sd I guess.
I don't remember having a bloom just like this one. I did gather sds last yr and will gather more this fall.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

awwww that lil thing. I'd a kept it.. I am bad about things like that. I hope he makes it.

Love the pink bloom too, very cheerful.
Jackie, I agree with Ronnie, your gray glory is fantastic.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Debra. It is a pretty gray.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Ronnie, Jackie and Debra. Quite a few years ago I did find a baby squirrel where I worked and I was able to find a tiny baby bottle and special formula for it. I almost thought of doing it again but when the rescue lady told my grandaughter that it would cost $60.00 for the bottle and formula I changed my mind. The squirrel I had before too I had my DH take to the wildlife rescue when it started running around and those little very impressive teeth scared me a little bit. The wildlife people would rather let nature take place, they were not happy when my DH brought it in but this rescue lady didn't scold me but did say they already had a few babies and was nicer. I probably need to visit a pet store and see about formulas and the tiny bottles. Well, I hope my baby squirrel makes it too.

Here's what's blooming today. Jackie, I was checking the plant files yesterday and your pretty gray blooms do look like gray haze.
