Funny!
Don't get me started on how dumb people are with the animals! That's a whole thread. Ranger told us that one couple put their baby on top of a bison for a pic! Someone was gored the week before we got there.
Miscellaneous shots 2012 #3
I know, I read the warnings about people gored, so was scared.
Though you said it was dry the waterfall looks full.
Looking forward to more.
People really can be irresponsible. I have a very healthy respect for wild animals.
Yes, Deb - I thought the same. If this is dry, can you imagine in June with all the snow melt!
wow o wow
Great images, victor - and previously deb.
Marianne and I were fortunate to visit Yellowstone and Glacier National Park in September 2006. What a great time as we traversed the varied natural, eerie, and phenomenal landscapes that Yellowstone presents (including giving a wide berth to the wildlife, like bison). Your pictures bring back so many memories.
I'll share a couple of ours, from back then...
the colors are amazing!!
Very nice, VV! We look forward to seeing Glacier. Lots of people at YS were recommending it highly. I should be posting many more tomorrow. We are big fans of the Nat Parks. Sad news from Yosemite lately. First the kids swept away by the Merced River two weeks back and now the people getting seriously sick from a rodent-borne disease.
Nice pics!!
Yes, sad news indeed about Yosemite. Our national parks are really something! I think I'd like to explore more the Grand Staircase area in Utah. We had a taste of it last year.
Just awesome photos....I feel like I'm there. My friend's nephew & his family have been at Yosemite for the past few weeks...hope they are OK....hanta virus is way scary!
These put me back there. Thank you for your eye.
so gorgeous
Very artistic photos...hard to choose a fav, but I think it's the one between the coyotes.....thanks!
My eye, and I, thank you!
Aside from the usual attractions - the geysers, mudpots, springs, animals, I was really struck this time by the fantastic patterns around the thermal features. The colors are from bacteria which feed off the abundant minerals. They live at the periphery, as they cannot survive the higher temps of the features themselves. Many remind me of alien landscapes - moons of Jupiter and Saturn, etc. I could spend weeks and weeks there. Tough when you have the family along!
Yes, hard to concentrate when the kids are along.....or the dog....I never get to focus my binoculars, she just drags me away!
All INCREDIBLE Victor!! The rainbow in the mist is the one for me!
I like the red one that looks like mars!!!
Beautiful Victor
The colors are definitely one of the nicest parts, noticed that in death valley too. Great pics of a great time I'm sure!
Neat colors. I'd love to see the bison near the thermal areas in the winter. So...you'll just have to go back and get some pics for me.
Where did you stay? I love looking at the old wooden lodges and how they are put together.
great pictures victor - looks like one of those places where it is hard to get a bad landscape!
Rocks, Bill! In unusual colors......
a little crowded or what? is it always like that???
Old Faithful area is always the most crowded and everyone runs to the area around the geyser when it erupts. Overall, the crowds were WAY less than what I was fearing. That is why I planned it for the end of Aug. Some kids already back in school. Would have preferred May or late Sep.
ahh, gotcha
Better temps then, but the kids are still in school....bummer.
Say what?!!!
