Another success story!

Wow! Another website has added a link to Dave's Garden. All you moms with kids at home, check out this site for ideas on gardening with kids: http://www.geocities.com/dgoetsch_gardening/gardenlk.html

Two sites have added links based on our members recommendations, and a lot more can be done if we all work together. Here's the original thread: http://davesgarden.com/showthread/124794.html

That gives me an idea...I don't have kids myself, but what would those of you with kids and grandkids think about a Gardening With Kids forum? Would that be something useful? Tips for kid-friendly tools, good beginner plants which grow fast and offer quicker rewards to get 'em hooked...That kind of stuff.

I teach a flower class to a Junior Master Gardener Class.
I amazed at how intrested kids are in gardening.
I teach kids that are 3rd,4th and 5th graders.

I have organized a Sunflower contest hhe past 2 years give them the seeds in the spring and let them go to town,.

I think its a great idea.

Cool GV I was getting ready to email you in a little bit had to run through the forums first I got the email from there to saying she added it .

GV - who are the other two sites? This is so cool. vic

Oops. Sorry! The Gardener's Gathering is the other website to add DG to their list of links.

Several others have indicated they will, and I'll update this post when I get confirmation that the link is added.

A BIG thanks to all of you who are quietly working on this - but PLEASE let me know if you've contacted the sites. One thing we want to make sure we do is NOT pester webmasters with repeated correspondence once they've added the link. The more information I gather from all of you, the more we can ensure that doesn't happen. Keep up the good work!

Master Gardeners, how's it coming on your end? Have any of you managed to persuade your local website's webmater to add DG to your site?

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

I've been working on Kathy Homesy who owns Gulf Haven Daylilys. They are locals and have a gorgeous AHS display garden plus retail nursery.
She started a web page a few months ago and was going to link to the other site, but i said oh nooooo, lol.
hope she does link to here

Gardenwife raised a good point earlier: what about a gardening with kids forum? At the risk of being shot (or pummeled with the frozen green tomatoes so many of us now have), I'll throw out an idea: modify the Stay-at-Home-Moms forum to be a Gardening with Kids forum. I liked the idea of the SAHM forum when it started, but it just doesn't get much activity :( And it can still serve that purpose as well as have a gardening slant to it. Any thoughts, opinions? I'll post this on that forum as well. Okay, I'm donning my flame-protective gear now ;0)

I like the idea of a seperate Gardening with Kids...I never go into Stay at Home Mom's...but grandparents have more time on their hands...and would LOVE to work with the GK. Our 6year old GS loves to come over and work with us in the yard. He has learned so much from his Grandpa....he keeps a pair of leather work gloves here for carting off Mesquite brush! Jo

Thanks for writing. I have links to Dave's Garden website
on two of my webpages. Lot's of good communication happening on that
website, as well as good information.

Best wishes for a wonderful autumn.

Notmartha thanks for posting I got that same email but I couldn't figure out what site it came from. lol He didn't have the garden digest listed on my email.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Poor guy, he must have gotten hit up by a whole bunch of us - I got the same message, too. I apologize - I should have looked closer before I posted that one to add. But to be honest, when I received his message, I went back and looked at Garden Digest, and still didn't find it. I had to do some backtracking to finally see the link :)

And...here's another one: 101 Gardening Links http://sharewareplace.com/101/101plant.shtml

It's a little different set-up, it lets the viewers add a link themselves.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Here's another one! Missouri Botanical Garden added DG to their links page: http://www.mobot.org/MOBOT/otherwww.html

If Garden Digest is www.gardendigest.com, I didn't find any links to DG, either. I used Google to search just that site for Dave and no matches came up to DG. Did I guess the right URL for that website or is it something else?

Hooray!! :o)
