Things that make you go "hmmmm" or Say what???!!!! Pt 4

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

yikes! I don't think my brain would think fast enough to remember the rhyme
red touches yellow dangerous fellow

saw a few snakes at Great Adventure, they went slithering over the path in front of us, but were harmless garter snakes

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Both my son and the other father had remembered the rhyme, so they took precautions.

DS also almost invited a skunk into their house. They have a black and white shitzu and he opened the door to let her back in. Next time he'll turn the light on first. He is amazed they haven't been sprayed yet. Heehee. Seems there is a skunk patrol. In their neighborhood. it was right near the bushes by their door. Think I'd let the dog out in the back yard that is fenced. Less likelihood of skunks getting in there. Heehee

that would have been funny!! Isn't there a commercial like that?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

The commercial is a woman calling her cat and a racoon comes inthe door instead of the cat.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Love that commercial!

Thomaston, CT

Wow....both incidents could have been trouble!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes. My bank not one of them.

Thomaston, CT

I don't do any online banking....I don't want my SS check direct deposited either!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

We use all 3!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - maybe you were the reason!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL, yeah us and our MILLIONS

Job update: looking for 3 years and got this. I work now for a Floral company.

I service a market for Bouquets. I work in my town. Went to work Monday and got a call to go 30 miles to another store. Got travel time & pay. By the time I was done I worked 9.5 hours Monday. Tired, lame & beat to death.

This is a Part Time Job. Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays. Saturday I have to go in for 1 hour to make sure everything is Pretty. I get 15 to 20 Hrs per week, depending.

Again this in my own opinion, is is a flat liner job. It is not a guarentee check. It bounces on what they need.

I am my own boss in a sense. I do like it, but, if a better job comes around I am clocked out.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Better than nothing, right?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

You can still sell those beautiful cups on eBay in the winter too.

Its better then no job. I worked 9.5 hours with no lunch or 15 min break. I have racks of mums outside so I smoke my cig while watering them (no break the sooner I get home).

Of course I will still put the fancy cups on ebay. I will have to start looking for more as I am down to like 30 to get on arghhhh

Thomaston, CT

Job sounds pretty good for part time work...hang in there, Sherrie....

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Having a flat liner job doesn't mean you are a flat liner! It is just a job!

Yes, the Northeast U.S. job market does't define who we are as individuals, it's just a way of getting a paycheck.

WE, as individuals, define who we are !!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just cannot believe it is October already.

East Bridgewater, MA

A pumpkin to put on the front porch already !?!?

Supermarkets certainly have us their sights.

Yes, tempus fugit (or whatever the Latin is).

Thomaston, CT

I only wish January & February flew by like the other months...oh, well, we are closer to spring then we were yesterday......

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I can't believe it's Oct already either!!

I'm Allison will chime in to "say what??!!!"
I was texting her but I thought I was texting my other friend Allison...LOL talk about confusion....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

It's been crazy traffic wise around here lately
With still one bridge out if I need to go a different way I really have to go out of the way(all of you living in the country know what I am talking about)
Hubby texted me before I left today to go a different road cause of a back up but I get to that road and there is traffic backed up so long I can't even see the end of the line
So I have to turn around and go miles out of my way to get the kids to school, of course we were late...took me 25mins when it should only take 10

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Why is the bridge out? Did I miss news of some event?

Hmmm. Woman at the library today was stumped at making a Username and Password that she had to do in order to do an online application to WalMart. Think ing about it- as life goes more tech, who are we leaving behind? Yet another obstacle putting the less advantaged job seekers at the end of the line.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

They are redoing every bridge that crosses over the Tpk from 7a on down cause they are widening it, for a while we had 3 bridges in a row out...why couldn't they work on 1, finish it and THEN move to the next one???

Yes, they are leaving some behind that just don't "get" computers...I find with older married couples, though, that 1 will take to it and the other doesn't

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

I'm guessing the bridge work had to all get done to fit with using Stimulus money.

I'm including myself in the ranks of those who re threatened with technology going far beyond me. I can well see younger people blazing past me in use of advanced smart devices. Imagine if I applied for a job that wanted Twitter skills...ack!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

That would be Lou, he has trouble opening his Email :-) I on the other hand am no wizard but love learning as much as I can about it.

Thomaston, CT

Not good with technology......please don't take away my real books...hate to read things on a computer.....of course, my grandkids love it....

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Can totally identify with being left behind technology wise.

Lots of construction up there, Jen. Aggravating for you, I'm sure.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hubby hates the computer
was helping him upload a program last night it was like teaching a kid something, can you please use both hands to type? it would go so much faster!

It's crazy! every road I want to take they're doing something on it
even for the field trip yesterday the bus takes the turnoff for the cranberry bogs and it ends up being a dead end, guy that lives on that road was outside and told the bus driver they recently closed off the road that went straight thru to the bogs, had to back the bus up and go a different way

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

So gross! I found lice on my daughter, thinking it's from 1 of the 3 kiddie parties she went to.... YUCK!!!!

GMA had a story on how cursive writing is going to be the thing of the past due to computers. So now to sign a contract your only going to have to sign an X as you dont know how to write your name?

This world is getting really LAME

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

YUCK, but hey, to look on the bright side(?) that is taking your mind off the storm. I can relate.

Sherrie, that will make forgeries easier then. Heehee

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Jen we got reminders all the time in grade school (my kids) but to actually find them would have been a real shock to me too!

The last hotel we stayed in, in NYC, had gone to sparkling white for all the bedding. I bet thats so people can see there are no bedbugs.

We'll still have to write by hand no matter what. It just won't be pretty. or script. YEah it will be kind of lame. Some sort of print I guess. My former boss (man) had the most beautiful cursive writing, I admired that. He would have learned in the 1930s.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I saw that about the cursive writing but then talking to a teacher they said they wanted to start cursive earlier because it was actually easier for little kids to make the loops and stuff
So you never know where they get their ideas from
I think that with so many people without power they are realizing you can't really rely on computers esp if you have no electric

Thomaston, CT

Several libraries in CT had to close for extermination because of bedbugs....makes you not want to bring books home!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

ICK

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

ICK is right!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Well voting in Bridgeport is messed up again! Why people don't vote out the registrar is beyond me. Actually I don't understand why the registrar of voters is an elected position in the first place!
