Sistah's Gathering 2012 - Ahhh what memories!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jan, I am so sorry, I guess I misread the post. I apologize for that mistake!!! The gathering will be sometime the first of June...want to wait until my daughter, Kim, has finished work. No one including me want to be around her the last week of school!!! LOL

We will keep you posted.

Okay, Cookie, hopefully mine will be put to an end. Had the sleep study last night..odd name as there is no sleeping involved!!! I have an appointment on Wednesday for the results.

Yes, there were 4 of us, some meeting for the very first time but oh what a great time we had. I just hate it has been necessary to miss the last 3 but that I couldn't help.

Tired so I am headed to bed...make up for what I didn't get last night.

How hot is it the first of June, Marion??? Just wondering.... ;o)

Hey, I didn't name any names about snoring!!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LOL you didn't have to!!! I know!! Oh well me and some others I do think.

Cookie, I can say for sure but will just keep an eye on how things are. This year it was hot, past years really nice....you know that Mother Nature thing. If need be can move to an earlier date. I think I need some suggestions from others about their schedules. End of June and the first part of July Kim and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica again....any takers?

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Heh, Betty...sounds like you were near me last Friday. If you come back the same way you know I have a guest room ready. Be nice to see you and chat.

i was up in Toledo on Saturday and stayed the night. Stacey still has the upset stomach even with pills from the doctor and she is light headed and dizzy, too. Her attitude is really bad, too, as this is not what she wanted right now at all. She really wanted to wait until next year but we don't always get what we want and she is having trouble accepting that. She has been reluctant to call the doctor since she does have an appointment for next Monday but I have forced her to call today to make an appointment with the OB and her lung specialist too. She is also having some breathing problems. I was able to do some cleaning, especially the bathroom and do the dishes as her dishwasher is broken, too. Jonathan is a good boy but he just doesn't understand why Mom is so touchy all the time. He and I play, read, and generally have a good time. This week marks the end of the 1st trimester so I hope things get better...SOON.

Janice - sorry to hear Stacy is having so much trouble with 1st Tri........ 2nd should be better! I will keep her in my thoughts.

Jan - so good to see you here! Sorry about the jobs - I know how tough it is when both of you are out of work. It's only been 1 1/2 mo since my DH got a job, and I've been in this job for 1 month....... so we were both recently unemployed.
Guess my best thing to say is - if it can happen to us to both have a job again, it can happen to you! Positive thoughts going your way!!!!!!! This year I wanted to go to the Gathering, but with recent jobs, it wasn't to be. Hope I can next year, at Marion's - would be so much fun :-)

Well, back from camping, and except for a rocky start, it was fabulous! Rocky Start = we showed up and our usual spot was taken even though we'd booked it. We booked F1 & F2, and someone was booked for F1 and expanded to F2. Our "new" booking was for F2 & F3, but because they "expanded" to F2 we obviously couldn't camp there...... and we have a 10'x10' tent and an F350 truck...... can't go for a small site.
Well, we also didn't have Power & Water there either and we were paying for that. So, they put us in F3 & F4, with a 100' extension cord to an electrical plug in, and we had to walk for water (not a big deal of course).
We finally got our power and were able to inflate our bed by 10:30. We also have 2 power coolers (Coleman fridges, actually) that needed to be plugged in! So, the evening was basically shot and we were none too pleased about that..... I insisted on a fire, cuz that's a big part of Camping, doncha know?!?! OH, and the best part of the evening was the bagpiper who was playing down by the creek that night........ and the next night, too.
It calmed me right down, and it was terrific!
We, of course, met some very nice campers (including some from Slovenia, and France!), and shared contact info with a young couple also from Calgary! Who knows, we may end up being permanent friends. Both he and my Bob are in construction, after all lol

Oh, and we got back several hours ago and my car is mostly fixed. Just needs a couple of $12 parts, and it's perfect. I can drive it and it doesn't sound like it's "bottoming out" anymore, so that's an awesome thing lol

Talulah_B sorry to hear about your terrible start to your camping trip. I grew up going to camping site all over the eastern USA. My mom loved it so we kids of course went along...LOL I've not been for many years but would love to again, hopfully some day in the future.

Bagpipes oh that would be such a wonderful benefit to go to sleep by.

Hi Jan - thanks for the comments. We hope to go again on the 24th of Aug - it's a great place to go.
The bagpipes were played during the early evening, so it was still light, not bedtime - about suppertime.
It was lovely to hear them, and of course we have some Scottish CDs so we play them while we're camping. Both my mom, and my DH's parents are Scottish. We love the bagpipes! Such lovely caterwauling LOL

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

Susan, my maiden name is Wallace so that will tell you some of my history...LOL I hope to one day get to Scotland to see the people the country side, and the livestock, the sheep and collies that herd and tend them.

Well even better that the pipes were playing at dinner time so as to be able to enjoy them, but there is nothing like drifting off to sleep with them playing....

Jan

Well, would that mean you're related to William Wallace? lol
Yes, pipes any time of day are soothing and lovely.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

believe it or not, yes....LOL, Oh I wish I could find my graphic of our coat of arms.... it is incredible. My cousin went to a HS in central IN that the band played the pipes and had the dancers. I was out of that district but I wanted to go so bad to that school. LOL
