Melody and I recently suggested a new feature to the techs, and they have been hard at work to make it happen. In a nutshell, you will be able to use your "want" tradelist to be notified of any/all plants you're seeking when they become commercially available from a PlantScout vendor or they are offered by a fellow trader.
You can choose which of your "wanted" plants you want to receive notifications for (and change your settings at any time) - so you can choose them all, or just a few that you're really wanting to find.
After that, anytime a PlantScout vendor updates their inventory (or a new vendor signs up), or a member puts the plant on their "have" list, you'll get a message alerting you that it's available.
I've played with this feature in testing, and it works great. Personally, I don't need much encouragement help to fuel my plant shopping and swapping addiction, but it is nice to be nudged when one of my "gotta-haves" becomes available.
If you have a "want" list already, you should have a dmail that explains how it works, and how to choose all or some plants to include on your alert list. Give us some feedback as we roll this out - we hope you like it, and if you have suggestions to make it even better, do let us know!

New feature is coming!
Love it! I'll have to get working on my want list :)
OH NO! LOL!
Could be a very expensive feature, but very useful. Thanks. Patti
Exactly Patti! I guess if we find ourselves too tempted, we can always pare down our "want" list. (But what's the fun of that???) And hopefully it will also encourage more trades. For a long time I've wanted to see us do something like this when I come across a slew of "wants" and several "haves", and wonder if they see each other.
Just curious, how is this working for your other vendors? I have not noticed much new activity on PS lately, in fact this past month it was down. eBay on the other hand was way over my expectations. I certainly miss the Market Place. People were so fun to deal with and everyone was so happy. Too bad you can not come up with stores to rent...that may be something to think about. I have a soft spot in my heart for DG and hate to see it just fade into the sunset but I really worry since many of the old timers are gone and just will not come back because PS just does not do it for them.
I was just looking around to see if anything new was happening and saw this thread. Stopped in to say Hi and give you my two cents worth. Have a great day. JB
Jacquie, our PS vendors had about 11,000 more clickthroughs in July 2012 than last year, and given that many people have the summer doldrums and aren't buying much this time of year, that's a pretty good uptick.
fading? who's fading?
Terry that is wonderful news and I am really happy that there were so many hits. I unfortunately am one of the people who have usually a consistent number monthly. They are not many but they are consistent. This month I am sure I saw the count went down. Which surprised me since my sales went up for the month. I am always reluctant to give you feedback because I feel your answers have a tone of annoyance. I am sorry if I offend you by telling you what is on my mind. It wont happen again.
Please track and sand, do not get upset with my comments. I am a loyal supporter of DG and always will be, but I too have opinions and felt up until now I could voice them.
I do hope you all have a good day. And, I am sorry if I annoyed you.
Hi Jacquie, questions like this may be better addressed at the helpdesk, but I ran your reports and it looks like your July clickthroughs were up by a couple over June, and almost doubled over last year (July 2011 vs. July 2012.) You have access to these reports from your GWD page, but if you need help finding them, please let us know.
Good Morning Terry,
I have been watching the figures on GW and I would rather not discuss my personal figures here. I will say however, since you mentioned it, the first six months of 2012 were down considerably compared to the first six months of 2011 for me. This is nothing against Plant Scout and I am sure the people who have hundreds of items listed are doing just fine.
I merely ask how the new idea was doing and I guess I got my answer. This conversation is over. Thank you for your time.
i'm not upset at all. i really don't even know what you're talking about but am assuming it has something to do with selling plants. the only reason i even commented was because i have never gotten the feeling that dg is in any way fading. i think we're stronger and more vibrant than ever....and my comment was meant to be more of a light-hearted joke. :-)
I am glad you are not trackinsand. Truly started out to be a nice hello and how are you. Just got into a bit of a misunderstanding and it is not the first time nor the last Terry and I will not agree. No problem really. I just do not want to get into business on a public thread. Have a wonderful weekend. God Bless.
Just a thought- I personally have not bought many new items from any venue this year because of the drought most of us have been dealing with.It is a losing battle to try to keep what I have alive-don't want to watch new stuff suffer and die in 100+ degrees and bone dry gardens. May have been a factor with others as well. MWhit

Jacquie, I didn't give any of your actual figures, but only the change since last year, because I value and respect your privacy. I checked on your specific clickthroughs only because you said you felt they had gone down. We would be happy to discuss them in detail if you want to send us a note to the helpdesk

I'm not sure what disagreement you're talking about. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
