Anna: I rarely get on my FB it takes me to long to get to the stuff going on in the lives of my friends. They're all game addicts! I wish I had a greenhouse. I'm only 31 so someday I will. You don't sound like a crochety old broad to me. I'm going to have to check out the healthy living forum.
still: Sounds like a blast! He's going to have so many great memories.
Its so sad
Oh, gads, I went back and read and the birds comment wasn't for me. Gah!!!!!!!! My Bad.
I went back to the Healthy Living forum and I made the last post a month ago. Guess we all must be healthy, eh? :>)
LaviniaMae _ Sylvan is a great place to visit and see mostly waterfowl from around the world - many are endangered. This place breeds many of these species and is a major research facility. They encourage visitors to develop support and resources for these birds. As you can tell-I like to visit and was glad to take Will. The younger generations must learn to care for the world or all will be lost to video games and reality TV!
~~ Hey Anna !!
Hey, Terese...............how is Sir Charles??? And his buddy??
both are doing well. we are heading back to IL this morning for a few days... but they love it up here.
Do you even have a thread on the Pets forum anymore about them? If you do, I haven't seen it. Maybe a photo here????? *hint, hint*
It's still there, but haven't kept up with it... I'll try to get a pic of the boys.
I agree. Within the last two months, the Plant ID forum has declined. I am trying to help answers people ID questions, I gotta try to pick up for the slack around on the forum! I am very active in the Plant ID forum. Always try to help others!
Happy Gardening!
Dustin
found this thread while lurking around.....I started here I think it was 2006 and the co-ops were a favorite of mine as well as the hoya, stapeliad, etc areas.....but I haven't spent much time on here for at least the last year 'cause I felt kinda "just out there" without too much response to anything I would say.....I miss the forums I loved so much, felt like I had good buddies......yes, DG has changed, it's not the homey place it was when I first got here.....back then there seemed to be so much sharing, encouragement, just a real supportive place.......seems sorta cold to me when I get on the sites.....could just be me too.....I'm generally an unhappy depressed personality.....and that's recognition not whine.....
I like the "Chat with friends" thread. Found it after several disastrous threads. I, too, am prone to depression. Lots of good people on the chat thread. hugs, katie
Waving Katie, been worried about you! My experience all but once has been amazing..
Depsi, come say hi, you will be made welcome..

Hullo All....as Katie and Betty and Jaye can attest, I am the Grand Dame of lurkers....grin. It has been my experience that sometimes, you hate to "interrupt" an ongoing conversation, or may feel that you have nothing of import to add, or you are just shy....I am guilty of all of the above on most forums, but on the Beginner Gardening, Landscape and Flower forums, I kinda got over that....It bugs me to no end to see a thread sit unanswered for days on end....I would rather say Hi I don't know than have someone drift away for lack of contact.
Traffic on DG is mutable, it changes with the seasons...winter seems to have the heaviest traffic while Spring and early summer seem to have fewer posts and responses by the "regulars" as they are all out in their gardens.
I find that FaceBook, which didn't exist when I joined DG, takes up a lot of people's on-line time between staying in touch with dozens of friends and finding the games addicting.
Also, sometimes the links to threads get lost when the post moves to a new thread. If you look at Plant ID, you can see just how fast a thread posted today can disappear from the first screen and usually when it moves to the second page...it gets lost. That is why I try to change my settings every so often to list only "open" threads...and there are a lot of them.
Another sad fact, is that circumstances for folks change....a number of regular, see them all the time users have unfortunately passed on....I can think of 5 or 6 in the past year and that is just folks I was familiar with. Economic circumstances change for folks, and when they can no longer subscribe, you lose contact with them cuz they can't access forums like they used to. And, sadly, some folks have lost their access to the internet at home, so unless they can hit their local library, or have a laptop they can take to someplace with wifi, they also get lost.
I noticed here in this thread that Lavinia, tcs1366, and Anna haven't posted here in almost a year....hope they are all well and happily occupied.
Very well said Jean!
GRIN thanks
Hi, I am still here, but not here right now. Hubby and I are in Africa on. Photo safari. Left on the 7th and back on the 19th. Probably no Internet access on Amy of the other places we will be staying. We are having a wonderful time. Saw Mt. Kilamanjero yesterday unencumbered by clouds. Simply gorgeous!
What an exciting trip. I hope you will come back and tell us all about it. I'll never see Africa in person but I could through you!!!!
How wonderful Anna....we do so look forward to photos of your journey....I think of Gregory Peck's movie Snows of Kilamanjaro.
I'm here too.... just not in Africa. OH Anna,, so jealous. My mom was there a few yrs back, and it's one place DH does not want to go.
who's minding the kitties??
Just got back from 2 months in FLA. went from nice sunny days to gray with melting snow.
And now Fla is chilly with lots of wind....
i think it was windy almost every day we were there. had a coupla chilly days... but at least the sun was shining.
We can put up with a lot as long as the sun shines....grin
Should have stayed another few weeks..
Raining here and in the high 40's, not bad for a winter day!
Look forward to photo's from Africa as well
we would have loved to stay longer.... but had to get home to deal with "taxes" [our tax day is April 15th] and plus i have to be back up north [wisconsin] to get back to work mid-april.,
Yesterday we saw Mt. Kenya, even saw the summit this morning and a bit this afternoon unobscured by clouds. It looked like an Alpen peak, all pointy and jagged and snow.
Today we saw 4 rhinos....they were about 25 feet from the vehicle. They are HUGE! Saw many other beasts today too.
This resort has free Internet too. Yay!
What a wonderful vacation you are having, imagine Rhino's
And giraffes. They are so beautiful and graceful whe they walk. We saw a group of about 7 today.
A trip you will not soon forget..I imagine it's all and more what you thought the trip would be.
I. Would come back in a minute if money was no object.
And I would be joining you if it were not the same for me..look at the memories you've just created.
And I'm still hanging around . I've only been here about six/seven years . Not gonna get rid of me 'till I stop breathing .
Lol
Anna, wish I was there !!!! cold, rainy and just gray here in Idaho.....Deb
Going on our last game drive in about a half hour. We saw 6 lionesses yesterday, they were sleeping by some bushes. They never even woke up. Hope we see a cheetah or 3 today, have not seen one yet.
Glad you are having such a wonderful trip. What fantastic memories you are making.
Someone above mentioned hijacking threads, if its one of mine I don't mind. I have learned a lot of things from highjacked threads. I would never have know one of our members :) was on safari had this not been high jacked love u all and glad to see lots of people posting on this.
I wanta go to Africa hope pictures are posted soon.from the trip.
