Could Fuchsia be added to the ``Include ONLY`` section of the Advanced Search in PlantFiles please....

Thanks!

We'll see if we can .

On second thought, is there a way of adding the Genus or common name field to the detailed search? It would make it easier to narrow down characteristics within a larger genus, ie. Fuchsia, Passiflora, Maples, veggies, etc. with the detailed criteria included. Currently I can't search for zone 8 Fuchsia that are shrubs as an example or Euphorbia that are hardy in my zone. Thanks.

It will take a bit of programming, but your second suggestion makes good sense. I'll check and see if it is possible.

I can add (I think I remember how) a genus to the Advanced Search. We have historically done that only for plants that have a large number of cultivars (500 and up) since it displays them as part of the "Cultivar Finder" feature.

That would be extremely helpful, not only for finding plants we want, but for ID as well. Thank You so much!

How is this Search improvement coming?

Mike, unless something has changed, the "marriage" of combining a search that includes text and checkboxes won't be easy, so it won't be something we can implement anytime soon. However, I can add Fuchsia to the advanced search, which lets you limit your search to that genus.

ok. The only reason I asked was I wanted to look up only shrub form Hypericum for an ID in that forum.

Sorry - I wish there was an easy fix to that, but for as long as I can remember, that's been the byword for PlantFiles.

I seem to have great need for "advanced search" by latin name. I just had a plant in ID that I wanted to look in "Iridaceae" for red blooming to narrow it down from 515 pages. Has this programming request gone any further?
Thanks

I vote for this too. this evening my sister was whining about how she can't have any Camellias in her zone 6 garden, I was sure there are some newer varieties that should work. The first thing I tried was the Advanced Search, then a general search for "Hardy Camellia" but neither one worked. I looked further and found a few on the web, but it would be a really nice DG feature.

I've had this great desire for this for some time. There's a plant in ID and we all agree on the family but can't do a search by bloom colour and the hundreds of pages of results for that family are daunting. I can only hope.

I hope the programming team can review this proposition and hopefully implement this upgrade for a more robust PlantFiles.

I'll definitely tug on their sleeve :-)

Thank You! If you need me for this, I'm very much available.
