I would love herrenhauser, knightii and milk& honey if anyone has cuttings. What does the mercury look like? I ahdn't heard of it before. Shirley PS all my cuttings are doing GREAT!!!! A couple of labels got lost though----O NO!!

(Zone 6a)

No recent postings in here....I guess cold weather has put a dampener on things:)

Winter should be an excellent time to accumulate various seeds for spring planting though.

I am still in need (want) of double yellow datura seeds in exchange for postage.....can't handle any more brug cuttings till next fall; wife is about to run me and my brugs out of the house:)

owen, don't get antsy for an answer, I think Eric only has access at work, not really sure, but he will be back

(Zone 6a)

TiG.....OK:) I think his favorite was Amber Rose now that I think about it. Was just curious.

I have been having trouble with a few of my brug cuttings starting to rot when I leave them in a glass of water to put out the white nubbies. Think I am just gonna start them by lying them on their sides in the moist potting soil from now on. Sounds like they start as easy as weeds anyway:)

I have about 22 that I want to finish growing under my growlights until June 1st.....will have to prune them several times I reckon to keep them in check. I plan on planting them outside about 2 ft. apart. That should make one heck of a thick forest, don't you think?

Then am only going to pot my favorites from that forest just before frost next fall......sound like a plan? haha

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

quite a forest!!! I'm pretty sure you are right about Amber Rose, did you get that one? I may be the only one to do it this way, but I don't leave mine in water to put out nubbies unless I just get too busy. I leave hardwood in water 24 hours. Green and tips go straight into soil. I water them well, and wait a couple of days or more before adding more water.
All of mine need feeding now, anyone want to volunteer?? whew, I thought feeding the ones i had in the summer was a job, between brugs and passiflora babies, I have an all day job ahead of me. But I'm not complaining, promise:)

My list has to be kept down to two or my husband will divorce me. I'd like shredded white and Herrenhauser. Liz has been kind enough to send me Frosty Pink, and CG and a third which rotted. Both are doing just fine - Thanks Liz

Orphanannie - as they say 'go big or go home' Nice choices - talk to me in the spring - maybe we can work something out.

(Zone 6a)

I just water mine with 1/2 strength Miracle Grow....plus they have the time release fertilizer in the Schultz potting soil also, now that I think about it. They are doing great, so will stick with Miracle Grow I reckon:)

I have one small HG that I am trying to coax along....so far so good. Eric said he would have lots of HG cuttings next year, by the way.

I don't know what I want. Don't know all that is out there.
Four of the ones that I was given cuttings of are doing very well. They have a place in the S. window on my kitchen table.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Diane, you can get a good idea of what's out there by going to http://www.lebonjardinier.com
She has pictures of most, except the hard to come by European hybrids.

HoniBee.....check out the four hyperlinks in my first posting in this thread....at very top of thread.

Thank you Owen for starting this thread. I am a new brug nut and my wish list includes any that I can pay postage for. I have the following, they are youngsters yet:

Double Yellow
Jean Pasco
FW Falcon
Miami Orange Glow
Miami Double White
Miami shredded white

Any cuttings or seeds will be guaranteed a happy loving home here in Central Florida. I will be more than happy to trade as soon as my babies are old enough and also as any new ones that I get are ready.

I want to let you all know how much your discussion groups are teaching me. I am so glad that I found this web site last week.

Joydiel, I would love the information and article you wrote....and if you have seeds etc I can pay postage for I would be grateful.

Have a great day!

The mercury is a white aurea x white Knightii cross and is hence white, but very small and flowers last for about 9 days if memory serves me. I saw one in person a few years ago. Most excellent.

Hi,
Anyone got any extras to share with a 'newbie'? I would love to grow some of these beauties. I looked at the pics on some of the links and I just love them. I would gladly pay postage. I don't have anything for a trade, but hope to in the future.

Catoosa, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh No! I think I've had it. :-)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

tiG just sits here snickering, cause she knows how bad it can get!! ;)

tiG...Good going...another one bites the dust. LOL

Hampstead, NC(Zone 8a)

Green_Leaf you've got mail, and another one bites the dust.

Catoosa, OK(Zone 7a)

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves! Praying on people's weaknesses like this. I'm just glad we can all share amongst ourselves. I would never be able to support this habit all by myself. :-)

Green_Leaf

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

no way, no ashamed. I have to help feed others addictions, it doesn't make me look so bad!! LOL!!!

Catoosa, OK(Zone 7a)

You don't look bad. Especially when you are standing in amongst the brugmansias! :-)
If this is the worst habit we have, the world will be beautiful in no time.

I just made a nice discovery! I pinched a new branch, barely two weeks old and maybe three inches long, off of the side of one of my cuttings that had put out too many fresh branches. Just put it in the soil instead of throwing it away.....it looks nice and healthy, so assume it is putting out roots. If it is, this would be an extremely easy way to get new plants.

I presume everyone else already knew this, except this dummie:) lol

Okay,
What do I have rooted....many pink Butterfly aurea's, a few Shredded whites, a few Double oranges rooted aka HG, Tropical Sunset, Pink Aurea...willing to trade anyone? I have many cuttings of Jamaican yellow, Insignis Isabella, and others available by the box load for trades as well.Looking for Pink candida doubles, aurea doubles, Rothkirch, Quinde, and any other aurea you might have to offer in a trade will be considered. Most of these are fully rooted one gallon specimens over a foot tall. Sorry, the Culebra's are going to be used for seedling production so I won't be giving anymore of those out until after next years seeds are produced.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh Eric, I tried to get Quinde from Hodniks for you, but they were out. sorry.

Tig,
Its okay, Just trying to get a jumpstart on hybridizing. So far I have about 50 or so rooted Brugmansia that I want to breed with next year-only about 24 or so different varieties though. Just culled a few more Brugmansia trees last night.

Hampstead, NC(Zone 8a)

I've saved most of the links for Brugs, but can't find Hodniks. Can you help?

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)
