I don't know, but that is not what you have. We grow powder blue giant ourselves, although from Joe Pye Weed Garden. Cute plant, but not cristata.
Whats New April 2012
hmmmm, well that's interesting
lovely
Saw yesterday that my Omoshiro has a bud....yay!
Jen Forgive me for not being helpful before breakfast. The plant shown on the Bluestone site is I. cristata & looks like 'Powder Blue Giant'. The crested irises are a North American species, very happy in partial shade.
The plant which you have is a bearded iris, from European species. From the width of its foliage it is a hybridized type--miniature dwarf (MDB). I think it is quite cute & if you like it, I would keep it. It must be under 8" which is normal for the class. I would let Bluestone know of the mistake & they will probably send you a replacement. Then they could look into their source which may have supplied a mixed bag. I don't think they hybridize their own irises.
We finally opened the house March 31, and, just like last year, it snowed! All last month I've been agonizing that I'd miss all the early things I planted last fall. I imagined snowdrops ancient history and daffodils long gone.... But noooooooooooo! The pics are from that weekend, but as of last weekend nothing had changed.
Also, my big update is that I'm posting from the iPad, and have found a way to add pictures. So you'll be getting more from me this year.
Happy Spring (what there is of it from where I sit)!
Pam
Whoopee!
Well glad you didn't miss any blooms
Celeste, I love that shot of the little bird in Brian's palm. The juxtaposition of the strong and the weak is just lovely. Marilyn, no wonder you are excited to see that bud! Isn't it a great time of year? I'm just counting the days to see what's going on at the farm!
Jen, that edged tulip is very nice.
Pam, it looks like you got icab figured out nicely. :). Pretty shots! Now go for 5. lol
Yes I finally did. But I think when I selected the pics from photo stream the files were too big. Using saved photos worked better. Have you been able to load 5?
Pam
Didn't get the snow here, Pam, but Garret did in Goshen...I'm just praying for rain right now....
Its cold and rainey here some mixed with snow possible. We need anything in the way of moisture.
Hope my brother makes it home OK.....
I went into HD to buy a grass trimmer today.....some dahlias & glads followed me home.....as did a woodland phlox, and some speedwell & snow-in-summer I need for groundcover....
hee hee
Funny how those things grow legs... I went to HD in the city today for potting mix and a couple of black Elephant Ears somehow attached themselves to me. I loooooove them!
Pam
Wow, you must have looked funny, Pam!! ^_^
Tee hee
Just the bulbs, no ears yet...
Saw those, Pam.....maybe my next trip!
Yes, Pam, I was able to do 5, but I have some of them come out whacky. I'm not sure why.
That is the most stunning show of creeping phlox.
love the phlox!!
Pam, nice "seeing" you again!
Jen, yes, that iris probably came from me. Anyone want some dwarf purple iris? I can ship some, though will probably wait till after they bloom, unless you don't mind having the blooms removed. I have a ton! Just shoot me a dmail if you want any. I could include some baby blue iris, too, which are probably about 12"-15" tall. Don't know the variety names.
Jen, that phlox looks gorgeous! I can never get mine to look like that.
Karen
Few shots from today

Bill I think it is. Bought at a garden- garage sale last year.
i like it - very hardy and after a season you can easily divide it and spread it around - it does get very large for a heuch
Thats a good tip.Its in a spot where it can spread.
Your flowers are beautiful Karen
lovely Karen!
Beautiful gardens, Joanne and Karen. I'm green with zone envy- at least until I see more green in mine!
