Slow/Pages Not Loading

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I've encountered lots of problems with slow pages today. I've accessed the site using different browsers and different computers (work & home) and had the same problem. Seems to take FOREVER for pics to upload to posts, if the post will upload at all!

Stephanie, can you tell me what areas/pages were notably slow to load? We had a brief outage yesterday, but I haven't noticed anything today. (And I bonce between here and a few other sites, and nothing here seems slower than anywhere else.)

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I was mostly in the Texas forum.

Was it any particular thread(s)? And if so do it/they have a lot of posts (like more than 100?)

I was trying to edit my post on this thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1240847/

I was also trying to read other various posts and having the same problem. This was around 11AM-12Noon CDT yesterday.

Yep - with almost 300 posts, it's a slow-loading thread, relative to smaller threads. And yesterday was when we were experiencing outages across several Internet Brands' sites. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and hopefully things are back to normal now. (It's always a good idea with threads that long to start a "sequel" thread.

Everything seems to be fine today. Thanks for checking on it for me.

Always happy to help!

I have found all pages, including login, is slow on all of my computers. I sent a message to admin yesterday and melody said she had not heard of any problems.

I use Internet Explorer and have not had this problem with any other websites. Only only in the past few weeks has this been a problem.

Kathy, can you clear your cache and see if that helps? Other than the outages we experienced two days ago, we're not seeing any problems and most of our users are still on I.E. (I use Mozilla's Firefox and occasionally Chrome.)

Hey Terry,
I keep my cache cleaned every couple of days on all 3 computers. Same issue with all 3. I have been visiting threads that are small by comparison to those of years gone by. Odd.

Can you give me an example of a slow-loading thread? (or two?) I'll be happy to check them out.

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Most all of the threads. Even when I logon it takes it's time - twirling and twirling and finally it loads. Checking damail is slow too. It can't be my server because no other site does this and it's on all 3 computers.

shihtzumom, I changed your ad settings on your profile to block all ads. Will you let me know if that improves the performance of the page loads, please?

I've encountered lots of problems too with slow pages yesterday and today.I have tried several time to post in Plant-Identification.. i got one in, but no the rest. I've accessed the site using different browsers also and had the same problem.
All Thanks in advanced.

SobeGardener, I wasn't on much Saturday (I was on an antiquing jaunt), but I was on the site quite a bit yesterday and didn't experience any slowdowns. But I've changed your ad settings, too - please let me know if that makes any difference in the page loads.

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I see no difference. I just logged on (9:44 a.m. EST) and it took several seconds to get logged on - far longer than it should. The changes you made to my acct didn't help

shihtzumom, have you tried clearing your cache since I made the changes, and then accessing the pages that were taking longer to load? If you can provide me with links to specific threads or features that are still loading slowly, that will help.

Miami Beach, FL(Zone 10b)

Thank you Terry..but i still having problems i just try to up load 2 pics for ID in Plant-Identification and is not happening..it takes about 4 minutes(i check)and then it take me to the page to post a Thread.
Thank you Again Emily

Emily, how large are your pictures? Anything over 1000x800 pixels will slow things down and if you're uploading multiple (large) photos, it will definitely bog down. 800x600 is a good size; 640x480 is also optimal.

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

yes, cleaned cache, did all the basic stuff and I do not have this problem on other sites that are much like this one, or ebay, garden catalogs, etc. Only here.

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Terry I just posted http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1248029/
it took at least 20 seconds for it to load

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

shihtzumom, I'm really puzzled. I'm not experiencing this problem at all (and my access is no different from everyone else - if the site is slow for everyone, it's slow for me, too!) Except for the occasional person popping in here, we are not seeing any other problems that point to a pattern. Are you finding it's slow when you start a new thread or also when you post to an existing thread?
