RAIN!!!

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

They are really confident that this next rain event will help us with our drought problems.
However, North/Central to North Texas might see some flooding.
Let's post totals.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Not a lot of rain yet, but the temp went from 73º to 47º in about an hour.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

What Stephanie said! Wet and cold! Burrrr!!

East Texas, TX

still sunshine and warm here!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I heard on the news tonight that it's going to continue to be VERY windy and Saturday is going to be our big rain day.

East Texas, TX

We have had a little over 1.6 inches and it is still coming down pretty hard

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Lizzie, you're in line to get a lot of rain!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

warm still at 9pm - 72* - light gentle drizzle keepin stuff damp, but not even any puddles yet

East Texas, TX

Stephanie...we keep hearing anywhere possibly from 5-8 inches. I worry if it is that much...but will be thankful in the end for whatever amount comes our way.I am thankful that my house is situated at the top of our hill instead of at the bottom!

East Texas, TX

Kit...you are about 1 1/2 hours from me....it blew through here a little after 6 pm....the temp dropped almost 20 degrees immediately. Hope you get some rain soon.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Still hot and humid here!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I was out in the back yard potting plants around noon today, it was warm and cloudy and calm, then all of a sudden I could hear the trees rattling as the wind came very strong and hit like a wall of cold.
The temperature dropped 20 or more instantly and I had to run inside, I was in short sleeves.
We haven't had much rain at all, but it sure is cold 44 right now.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

53* still a light drizzle- we look to only get to mid 50's today, tho, most of the cold fronts this late in the season stall out about Huntsville, Tx while that northeast area around Dallas to Shreveport sends us down the runoffs...

East Texas, TX

Josephine...that is the way it was here....it was hot and then all of a sudden heard things blowing around and the temp dropped into the mid 50's. I need to get out if I can this morning and see if anything was blown over.

kit....hopefully you will get some good rain before it is over. usually we get bypassed on the good rain....where our land is, there is something that usually seems to split the systems....we can usually stand on our porches and see rain all around us and sun will be shining on us,lol. not sure what it is that does this. a neighbor that moved in from the houston area years ago scoffed at my dad when he told him this....but, he soon admitted that this was so....

oh...we have had over 2 inches so far

I know that at Huntsville there is a sharp elevation drop-it used to fog our windows the instant we were coming south from Dallas, and I believe you have a topography change there too, when the supposed earthquake hits Houston- the beaches will split the town of Huntsville in 2, just an affirmation that elevation changes, East Texas runs close to the edge of that caprock (limestone shelf) that Dallas has issues with, West FW is desert plains, Dallas is more tropical, all ups and downs. Yup, it was nice and warm til abt 5 am and now I am cold...

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Just checked the radar and rain is heading our way from the southwest!

East Texas, TX

ahhh kit....that makes sense. will have to do some checking and see.

stephanie...keeping my fingers crossed you get some good rain!

East Texas, TX

ahh...just noticed that the wind was getting way up and checked and it looks like rain is heading our way also from the southwest. Just checked the gauge and we have gotten 2 3/4 so far.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

I dont have a rain gauge but we got a ton of rain. Thank goodness the wind has stopped, it was incredible.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Got a little rain but temp did drop from 80 to 60. We still have the wind.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

0.5 in. We're in some kind of hole, too - squalls from this one went north of us, went south of us, and went east of us, but almost nothing right here but cold and damp.

East Texas, TX

hopefully you will get some realbird......

we are at just a tad over 3 inches...just barely over

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

1/2 inch in San Marcos.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Getting really good slow rain all day today and continuing. Hope yall get good rain too.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm going to have to break down and buy a rain gauge. Based on the water in the livestock feed bowls lol I'd say we got about 3" . It poured, boomed, and poured some more. Maybe winter has finally arrived, because it sure is cold 42*.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Ides of March, there is always a cold snap by the first of Spring, the winds are blowin early all over the country, no rain gauge and I havent checked NOAA, but it seems the drizzle went from light to light moderate and just never lets up, the litttle dry weather creek is flowing tho not overflowing, but everything is saturated none the less. I am apt to find a slicker and plant my starts in the rain, sigh, but not til coffee...

Talihina, OK

Cold(32) up this way this morning but sun is out and no rain untill later today ,that is the forecast by the weather jocks ..If one is to believe the seven day forecast then we are in for a few rough days but it is WARMER and things are growing...

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Yeah, I hope this is our (non-freezing) late cold snap, and it will be nothing but spring going forward.

Canyon Lake, TX(Zone 8b)

My plastic rain gauge showed 1/2". It does have a crack from a freeze.

This rain has helped the okra, corn, and crowder peas I planted several days ago and only watered lightly afterward. A few peas and one okra germinated so far. It all should kick into high gear now.

Arlington, TX

I got very little rain here in Arlington. Today there is a light mist, nothing to break a drought though. 50 degrees and just wet enough to keep from working outside...ah

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

The same here Cheryl.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

We've got 1" of rain in the rain gauge since the rains started this morning. Woot!

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

At ten last night we had 1.5 inches according to the TV. It rained all night and most of the morning so Im guessing we will have at least 2.0 by tonight.

Talihina, OK

The last time I looked at TWC it had D/FW just getting a pounding and a line of storms stretching back to the southwest and moving north we have had nothing for a couple of days other than some cold gloomy days ..Today was an exceptional day got out and did a little clean up work prior to the first mowing of the year ..It never ceases to amaze me how many toys the dogs manage to drag out from god only knows where mostly in the form of roots and stems and limbs from pruning ..I do hope I have most of it picked up The grass is pretty high as I hate to cut down what little green there is ...

East Texas, TX

I think we are at a little more than 31/4 inches right now.

Grits...my outside cat just left us a present by the back door. A huge, dead wood rat. Needless to say, the hubby had to go out in all the rain to dispose of that thing.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL Lizzie! Your kitty is a good provider!

East Texas, TX

I am not sure if he was just proud of himself and wanted to show it off or if he was saving it for a late night snack, lol.

East Texas, TX

Good morning Texas! Woke up to rain again this morning...I think we have 100% chance today....I am thinking...according to how much it rains today...we should end up at least at 4 inches or a little more. I am thankful.

Talihina, OK

Raining here as I sit here writing this so very dark it is like night 53 degrees so not cold enough to hurt any of my seedlings ,several months ago I posted about looking for some old fashion Garlic and one of the ladies in my gardening class has some to give me and if not for the rain i would go get it today ....

East Texas, TX

congrats on finding the garlic! my sister has some that I need to get too...it came from my family's old home place (the parent plants are many, many, many, many moons old).
