It seems like just yesterday that the winter birds arrived and soon they will be leaving us. One of my favorite winter birds is the Purple Finch.
DAILY BIRD PICS. VOL. 434
Beautiful shots Rose!
Love the Purple Finch, I've only ever seen a female here.
Thanks for starting the new thread!
Thanks for the new thread and those fantastic shots, Rose. I'm looking forward to the return of the White-crowned Sparrows, and the Purple finches. The first Sparrow to arrive is usually the Song Sparrow, and that should be sometime this month.
Margaret that little Plover is so sweet. And love the Terns too.
I still am hosting the Starlings and Goldfinches.
Wow, Purple Finch are so beautiful. They never got to my house and Burn would not share. LOL
Rose, you are so fortunate to have the Blue Birds year round.
You folks have posted fantastic shots. (The Canons were loaded and firing dead on! LOL)
Alrighty then, here are few shots from a week ago.
Mockers with the wind blowing--er, ah, from behind.
A Dee enjoying a snack.
A Titmouse.
Bluejay.
Last one for now, Female Cardinal.
Nice variety GG...and they all look like characters too!!
Am I the only one that can't see Burns photos?
Rose, I can't see Burns' photos either. Thank you for starting the new thread, GG love those Five Muskateers you've got there. Those are our residential birds here. Though, Blue Jays don't mingle with other yard birds. lol Those do show their own character lol with you Rose.
Oh, Burd, where are you? Down in Alabama, we've Alabama Elvis here too.
Nice pics everyone. I guess bluebirds have to be my favorites, too, Dell. Went looking for a specific out of range bird yesterday in the Wichita Mountains and we were fortunate to see and watch him for quite some time. Pics of an Acorn Woodpecker, rare to see one in OK. I think he is lost and will not find a mate. Has been seen near the Refuge HQ since Jan.
Such beautiful shots folks.
Rose, there are no characters at my house--had fingers crossed when I wrote this. LOL
Lily Love, that group is also our common backyard group. Nanny, I like the Kestrel and lucky you a Bluebird. You want a Mockers--if mine does not stop hammering on my bedroom window at the crack of dawn every day, I'll ship him off to you. LOL
Red, poor Acorn Woodpecker with no mate.
Okay Burn, I understand. Darned broom was not very good transportation--got caught up in one of those storms and darned near ended up at the North Pole!! LOL Nice shots you posted now that we can see them--darned computers!!
Duc, love all of the shots, but the cropped head shot of the Crow is fantastic!
Duc, Love the Crow shot too!
Nice to see the Acorn Woodpecker red!
Good shots everyone!
LOL Rose.
Alrighty then Rose, why not just hog all of the Cedar Waxwings? Jeepers, none left for anyone else. And TWO American Kestrels!!
Only funning--my goodness these are all gorgeous shots.
Rose, Great shots of the American Kestrel pair and the Cedar Waxwings!
Pretty one Lily!
Thanks Resin. I ought to remember that pose where they drying their wings at rest. Geez! It's interesting how it maintain that position in deep water? How cool!!!
Rose, your kestrels are so pretty. How lucky to see them so close. Beautiful waxwing shots too.
Lily, love the spring blooms-I'm soooo ready for spring.
I thin this mourning dove was getting tired of modeling for me.
Our first osprey showed up at the nest.
Here's a few of my sweet tree swallow shots.
Love those Tree Swallows duc!
Lily you are teasing us with those gorgeous blooms!!
Duc your Tree Swallows are so adorable as well as your other birds of course...love them all.
No new pics today...way too much wind. Here are some shots I took recently...Goldfinch, Tufted Titmouse and a White-winged Dove (not common in our area).
Rose, great photos of the sweet goldfinch and titmouse. Such a pretty dove too. Don't you love it when you find an uncommon bird?
I'll start off with a coot-one of many on our lake. I watched through the window as these two female HOSP argued over which one could get to the seeds I hide in the log. My tree swallows are trying not to pay attention to the HOSP.
LOL, Rose. I thought I would share a little bit of spring with y'all. Duc, as the weather getting warmer. I'd have to say bye to my American Coots which are winter migrants here. I'll be missing them-- that is for sure. Just love those Tree Swallows, they're like children singing. They're so sweet!!!
Got a beautiful visitor today. A Swan! That's a rarity. My Blue bird was curious of the beautiful, gracious visitor this morning.
Oh my goodness, beautiful flowers. You folks have all posted wonderful pictures. Love them all.
Duc...beautiful shots and I am so envious of your sweet Tree Swallows.
Lily...congrats on the Swan...so beautiful.
Cold, wind, rain and sleet all day today and not one to take pics of birds but I have some recent ones I will edit and post later.
This afternoon, for nearly a half an hour this Great Gray Owl hunted from a bush fifty feet in front of me. Five times it flew towards the mound I was standing on, and returned to the bush. Twice it plunged into the snow, within 15 feet of me, but didn’t catch a vole either time. It was a spiritual experience observing such magnificent creature, at close range.
Absolutely stunning shots of the Great Gray Owl! Up close and personal.
Excellent shots Gary!!
When is the best time to put out hummingbird feeders? I can't find the migration map for Ohio.
