New Thread. We came from here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1234987/

Scientists now know that being grateful on a daily basis makes for a happier life. Sometimes, all it takes to help smooth a rough day is to remember what we have for which to be grateful. Big or small, thoughtful or funny, there is always something--even during those times when we have to dig really deep to find it. Come join us in writing about all that you are grateful for in your life.

Thankful for wikepidia, people who write the posts, and all the information stored there.

I am thankful today for all the lovely green and growing things around my house. Daffodils, Anemones, Muscari, Gazania, Coreopsis, Centaurea, and even some Mexican Heather regrowth peeking up from under last year's not-yet-cut-off dead brown stuff.

Thankful to have a supply of turkey left from Christmas. Fresh pineapples on sale and pecans on clearance means turkey salad for tomorrow's lunch. Turkey and dumplings for Monday.

Thankful for peppermint bark-scented snowman-shaped soaps.

Today, I'm thankful Home Depot had their seed starting kits out and for sale.

Today I'm thankful today to hear more people each day are realizing that we need to eat real food to live and live well. I just finished a book called "The Happiness Diet" that does a wonderful job of pulling together a lot of research explaining why eating nothing but chicken nuggets & french fries will lead to a sad & zestless life. And how eating real food grown in healthy soil can lead to a happy, strong and zestful life.

Thank you, Susan for the thread intro. I like it much better than the one I had been using. :-)

Thankful for marigolds.

Growing your own veggies is wonderful fun! I am grateful each day I can enjoy gardening. Tonight I had sweet potatoes from my garden last year. And I am very grateful to still have them to eat. They were grown in healthy soil, enriched by the compost made from our kitchen scraps and chickens' bedding. No chemicals.

I'm grateful to be gardening, too. Life would too dull without it. I found Birdhouse Gourd seeds today.

I am thankful for my DG friends that I've missed while not being able to get online. Thankful for 2 blue painted rooms,a kitchen-living room painted gold and mahoghany, one very pink bedroom and all my floors done in greys and browns faux stone. Seems like I have a new house. My grandson has done all the work and done well. Also very thankful for my grandson. I keep looking at it and feel totally amazed.
I was able to grow a few things last year in large pots. Plan to do it again. There is no substitute for fresh tomatoes and cukes.

I am thankful I am able to read everyone's thankfulness. I am sure you are right about it being healthy. It would be hard to be thankful and hateful at the same time. I have seen how the latter can be like a cancer.

I am thankful for a chance of rain tomorrow. Too dry this winter and that is when we get our rain. Plants like the sun and warmth just fine but I have to water.

This is what I had: So Delicous Coconut Banana Split Minis http://www.turtlemountain.com/products/product.php?p=so_delicious_cm_minis_banana_split_sandwich

Here is the company for the coconut minis. They make a lot of non-dairy products. I don't see the specific one list so I'm not sure what that means. http://www.sodeliciousdairyfree.com/products/index_products.php?gclid=CPrtgZ3oi64CFWnatgodC0rQ3Q

Grateful for good health, a relatively healthy lifestyle, and Dr Oz shows.

Indeed - hugs on any days are wonderful but especially treasured on rough days.

I am so grateful I've found a balance in my life, making time for my health and for my friends & family, as well as for my job.

Digger - Good to hear about the progress with the porch. That's a lot of work.

kwanjin - Good to hear that your family works things out.

Tam - Yes. Also thankful for Dr Oz.

Grateful for parking ramps with lots of parking spots, for getting a parking spot close to the door this morning, and for elevators that one can ride up four floors on.

A little weak today from being sick earlier this week. Was happy to be able to park in the parking ramp attached to the building where my class is and also to take the elevator up. Usually the parking spot is a long ways away and I climb four flights of stairs to get to my class.

Dahlonega, GA

Dr. Oz better be glad I'm not 50 years younger .I'd put that man in my pocket and only let him out when other women weren't around . Big LOL

Thankful for a caring young employee who is coming to mow the yard on Saturday and has refused to take payment for it.

(Debra) Garland, TX

Immensely thankful to have noticed this bud after getting home from the office. With a rough couple of months, and a job in the balance today, the surprise was sheer joy. The iris is white with a yellow picotee and speckledy edging, and has a luscious citrus fragrance. Neighbors moved from rent house and told me to take whatever I wanted because they had planted most of it. They gave me five roses before leaving, and this iris was the only thing I took later. Been in the container since last August. Doing well, don't you think? :-)

That's gorgeous Debra!

(Debra) Garland, TX

A nice way to end a day. I hope the fragrance develops. Never grown an iris in a container before. :-)
