Hey everyone.
I'm sorry I was AWOL over the weekend. Some stuff came up with my SIL, Sandy (see Prayer Forum for details).
I meant to post a thread on Friday for plant trades. Will do so now. Then I'll come back and add a link.
Happy to welcome you to the RU, TLeaves. : - )
I know where Ramona is, and will have to try to come out and see the tour April 28th. : - )
Thanks for sharing that link.
tchrkare, I'll be happy to welcome you too. I am sure that you'll enjoy yourself. : - )
Be back soon with the link to the plant trade thread, which I'll post on the first post of this thread.

Spring Round Up, Anyone?
OOPS! Forgot to mention, that in the past we've tried to start the RU about 10:00 am and it usually starts winding down about 2:00 pm. Which gives people a chance to get here without stressing the time too much and also some of us get tired and need a siesta come the afternoon. I hope that the scheduled times work out for those who haven't been here before. I guess I forgot to mention it because it's just always been like that since I started going to RU's in 2009. Seems to work for most folks.
Just thought I'd clear that up for anyone who was still wondering.

Here is info from a non-pd member who wants to come to the RU from Corona. I have send your time of day info and asked her how many she will be and that we would add her info to food and plant threads. I also, via D-mail, sent her copies of the entries for food and plants. SW, please include her D-mail address for your address/direction d-mail that you send out. (Icky3585)
Hi Lynda,
please send me the info as I am not a paid member yet. I would like to know more about who lives around me and loves gardening and cooking, etc.
Thank you so much for organizing/inviting...
Kristin
I would like to be there. I would need directions and what time (when you know) to arrive. I can bring some seedlings of watermelon, squash, tomato? I have lots of seeds leftover.
I could bring some fruit skewers and a cookie bar dessert (like smores).
To know what quantities to bring...how many people have come in the past?
Thank you for your offer and assistance as I am not a paid member at this time.

This is getting so exciting. Everyday I go out and encourage my seeds to grow so I can bring them. I hope they are listening.
Well....The Roadrunner has chickened out.
I havea dear cousin in GA that is not well...and we grew up together...so I have decided to go visit her instead. I know ya'll will have a great time. I'll try to catch up next year. Jo
QG,
I will add her to the list (really? Icky3585/Kristen? I don't know if I can call her, Icky. Can't call Sharon in LV, 'worms' either.). You can put up her seed for trades or better yet just let people know she'll be bringing them, if you wouldn't mind.
Monkymomr, can put down the food items that she mentioned in the above post.
I hope you told her to bring enough food to feed about 10 people. I know it may or may not add up to be that amount but it all works out, and means you have to step lively when it's supper time. Most of the time their is more than enough food, and it all seems to go home with someone at the end of the day.
I should thank you and monkymomr, for your help in organizing and making this event happen. I know that it would be really hard for me to do this year, without everyone pitching in and helping out.
You all really rock my world. Maybe I should say steady it, because it always seems to be moving. LOL! : - )
I am really sad that weegy, Jo, Marie, and Rodica won't be able to make it this year to the RU, but it looks like we'll be able to have the pleasure of meeting some folks we haven't met before. : - )
Sometimes things just don't work out the way we'd like them to, but we know that family comes first.
Jo, you aren't no chicken, and you will be missed. : - (
That just means more chocolate for the rest of us! LOL! We'll take photos, Jo, to share with you and I pray your cousin has a swift recovery. Give her my prayers and a hug, okay?
Got to make them changes in attendees.

It sounds like too much fun! I think it's time for a road trip. I'll be coming from the High Desert so if anyone out this way wants to carpool let me know. I probably don't have many plants to trade this year, but I'm heading over to the potluck thread right now!
I've got sprouts...hoping they get big enough to bring. How big does a seedling have to be to be adopted out? I'm hoping to have pics of Sam's garden so she can bring them to show. I'm thinking it's time for her to have a pair of gardening gloves. They have the cutest (littlest) one at Walmart with princesses on them.
Welcome desert_witch. Will you be attending by yourself?
I am hopeful it will be a lot of fun for everyone. : - )
It should have leaves, Momr, but don't worry, you can trade seeds too.
I haven't had much of a chance to see what sprung up when I wasn't looking,
but am trying to keep everything up to date. : - )
I have to run for now, but will be back soon.

I was just outside and the day has been so cold and wet. This morning when I looked at the containers most of them still didn't have any showing, but now several of them have multiple sprouts.
That's the way they do ya. The watched pot never boils, and the plants don't sprout while you are watching them. But the weeds do! I've never been able to figure that one out. LOL!
You are doing fine.
I have some ground orchids that are about ready to be started, they can be grown in the ground in the beach areas, and I grow mine in a pot, although I am thinking of planting them in the ground inside the gh. I need to count to see how many I have that are ready, but I think I have at least 4.
When I know how many I'll add them up above.
Does anyone have any creeping phlox? My ES is really getting into gardening, now that he has his own place and the hay yard is close to his house. I really think it's an effort to restore his feeling of lost privacy. Also he enjoys nice things.
He's been asking me about grass seed, when he lives on a slope! I'm trying to talk him into other plants and he will be attending the RU. You all can help. : - )
I'll be posting again soon. I'm getting excited myself about the RU. : - )
Got some fun in store for you all, and from the looks of the food thread, no one will be going hungry,
but haven't seen much action on the plant/seed/etc. trade thread. Take a look around, and see what you can bring to trade, or share. BTW, my son is planning on buying a 6 pack of veggie's to share out, maybe two. He just hasn't decided what kinds yet. He figures if he cuts them into their separate cells that people will be able to take a seedling home. He always did take the easy way out. I tend to start plants inside the greenhouse and transplant when I can, outside the gh. When I broadcast seed it never fails but them lousy chickens eat my seeds! Still have a couple of hens loose. Now I am resorting to bribing them to re-enter the chicken pen. Sigh.
Got to make hay while the sun is shining. LOL!

That's what I call "the children of my heart". You may not be related to them kids, but you love them anyway, and you'll always claim 'em. I got a couple of "summer kids" like that myself.
What a joy for you, Jo. : - )

Congratulations !!! ♥
SW, I have told some of the newbies you will be sending an encrypted message (lol, D-mail) with your address, phone and directions. That, for security reasons logically, you do not make a general post.
SIngingWolf,
So sorry for the delayed response from March 8th. Since my mother's death on July 31, 2011...I've been busy de-cluttering parts of the house for my dad (57 years worth!). I'd like to bring my dad to the April 14th RU, and as far as I can tell, it begins at 10am? Is this correct? I've responded to the potluck thread with commitment to food, (and papergoods, if needed). Our gardens are just gorgeous this year so far. It's year of the Iris!
I'd like to bring some Spraxis (I have absolute tons: see attached photo) and a few tall bearded Iris for whomever wishes (see attached photo). Yes, all the photos are from our personal garden and are seen on my Facebook page and my website. http://www.facebook.com/GlitzyGardenDecor
Please let me know how I can help and sorry for the last minute contacting.
All the best wishes,
JulesGarden4B
Thanks QG, a blast will be going out in the next couple of days. : - )

SW
Gee whiz, that was fast Jules. : - )
I'll be adding you and your Dad to the list. : - )
I'm sure you'll have lots to share with us, and I'm helping my Mom with the same thing right now. Okay, I've got my kids helping her, while I goof off. : - )
I do hope you'll bring your Dad. I think he'll enjoy himself.
BTW, for anyone who is concerned about the weather, if it is raining, we'll be moving the RU inside the Bee Barn. If you are worried about the Bees, don't. They are up in the Bakersfield area right now.
DH told me not to worry about it, he'll take care of moving the tables (with his forklift) and getting things set up in the Bee barn, but I was hoping we could have the RU under Gma Oak. Let's hope the weather is kind to us that day, during the RU. We need the rain, so I just hope it's over and done with before Saturday.
Any one else who is planning on attending the RU, should be sure to sign up on this thread, then follow the links to the Food/Potluck Thread and the Plant/Seed/etc. trade thread for the RU. I do have the links posted on the very first post of this thread for easy reference.
I plan on sending out the blast no later than Wednesday.
We are looking forward to meeting everyone, sharing ideas, stories, food, plants, and lots of great memories.
Be seeing you soon!

desert_witch, my daughter just had to cancel on me. Would it be possible to car pool with you. I will be happy to help with gas. I will get there one way or another, I'm just thinking a car ride would make it easier. LOL
My friend since jr. hi called and is coming to Murrieta from Santa Barbara on Sat for her daughter's color guard competition. It is not till 7:30 pm and her DD will come with team, but she will try to leave SB around 8 AM and will join us at the RU! Yea! Need to copy SW address to email it to her.
Hi Everybody:
As mentioned to our gracius hostess with the most-ess, SingingWolf, I'll be bringing some recipes to share, a small craft item to do for fun (about 26 of them), some good grub, and a few plants to give out. I have about 8 Spraxis and 3 or 4 Iris bulbs [See pictures for colors.] for anyone interested. For locals near Menifee, CA, I can always get more plants to you ... just need to wait until the Iris stops blooming!
I look forward to meeting you all and hearing more about your gardens and any tips you may have. To reiterate SW's list, here is the potential attendees list for tomorrow as I have last seen it. Anymore people planned to attend, kindly advise so I'll have enough small crafts for everyone.

BTW: As SW mentioned previously...Be sure to wear layered clothes and tennis shoe-type footwear, because at the time of this post, it's about to drizzle today. It's against all civility that there will be any drops of rain on our RU tomorrow...so hoping for a sun-shinny day!
Wishing you all safe travel and see you tomorrow. Remember...make your outdoor space a "Glitzy Garden" place! ;O)
Love to you all --- Jules
It rained during the night and we are getting sprinkles on and off today. I know we need the rain, but having a beautiful sunny Saturday would sure help. "Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day".
Looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces tomorrow!!
Oh, Krud, Karen. Thought I sent out a d-mail blast. Will have to try that again!
OK, I individually sent direction in D-mails this time. Hope it all works, looks like only Robin got the first one. I am just west of SW, and we had one tiny blast of sprinkle this AM (just at the time I procrastinated to divide up the Pregnant Onion to bring). I think I will bring the zebra succulent thing all clumped in the pot and those who want a piece can break it off. It roots so easily. Need to go clip some rose geranium pieces to bring.
Weather.com hourly forecast for Menifee does not show high%'s for rain and last rain post shows 30% for 9AM Sat. It does show "southern CA version" of cold though - high 50's to mid 60's. Means SW needs 3 parkas.
So, after only a piddling amount of rain this AM while I divided the PG onion it actually cleared some. Then when I took the dogs out this PM it was blowing like crazy but I figured I could divide up some other plants and sure enough it started sprinkling. Got em potted and made cuttings just before the deluge! Cats and dogs I am telling you, then thunder and lighning. Felt like I should unplug the computer. The realized my recipes for tomorrow were trapped in there! seems to be calming down so I can get off this iTouch and turn on the big guy.
Still raining here, so looking more like the Bee Barn for us....
Is it ok if I add one more person? I am bringing only a couple of seedlings but am bringing my seed trading box so people can take what they want. I hope I can sleep tonight.
As for rain...it's rained all night and day here. I've started to quack.
The more the merrier. I have a friend coming (I hope) from Santa Barbara.
thank you
Thank you all for a wonderful day! I enjoyed the company, the hospitality, the food, well, it was all such fun! My new plants make me happy, too~~ A great day!!! And so much fun delivering flowers to my family. All the best, Karen :)
From Sam...I had a good time. Thank you for the hayride. The meatballs were yummy.
From me...Thank you so much SW for opening up your home and bringing us all together. I had the most wonderful time. GG-thank you for all you help and for making the day easier on SW.
I enjoyed meeting all of you and love all the plants and seeds. The food was great and the hayride was the cherry on top of a wonderful day.
Don't be surprised if you find me camping under grandmother oak this summer. When I was a little girl I always dreamed of living in a tree. Happy gardening and sweet dreams to all. Robyn
Had a great time! Loved meeting everyone, so sorry some of the gardeners couldn't make it. Going to spend a lot of time doing some planting now, thanks everyone for sharing your plants with me. All the fresh flowers I have taken apart and put them in a couple vases, spent about a couple of fun hours doing that.
We stopped in Hemet to visit some friends for for a few hours and my doggies were so happy to see us come home. One enjoyable Saturday!!
Thank you to our gracious hosts! Great to see everyone again and all the new attendees also (even the new baby doggie, Naomi). It was wonderful having the warming fire and the hay ride. Great food and thanks to everyone for the plentiful plants, I shall be busy planting for awhile! We took that big bucket full of bouquets to church in the morning and they were a big hit!
We were only home for a short time before one of our Miniature Pinschers got outside our fencing and was heading for the hills. Little did my visiting friend think she would becoming ladders, negotiating chain link and mending fences! Yes, we caught the little vixen thanks to Tony digging under the Cain link on the other side of the flood control channel.
My mini pin makes a run for it every chance she gets. She's so tiny it's really hard to keep all her holes blocked.
We have neighbors with the tiny miniature pinschers. Our girl is likely 'regular' size and the boy is bigger and just looks more masculine. Our girl usually only runs one direction - away. You bring meat to lure her and she gets alllmmmoooossst close enough to catch her, then laughs and keeps running. For some odd reason on Sat. this is the first time she WANTED to come back in. Thank goodness as the default to catching her is usually DD as it is her dog, but her not being here.....
I just stand in the yard and yell at her that I'm not going to chase her. She usually comes home in about 15 mins. It seems that it's not a much fun if I'm not chasing her. I'm sure the neighbors found my trying to run after her pretty funny too. If I run after her she will run forever.
