Winter MG blooms 2011-2012 #02

Ooh, a nice Roman Candy. First one I've seen in a long time.

went downstairs and the red feather and the purple with white tips and the red with white edges are bloming.. dead camera batteries, tho.

I have a few more repeats this morning, glad to have them blooming.

Full Moon again!

This was supposed to be watercolor, I think a light blue but not when the are this color. A clue of what might be.

I like Full Moon a lot too and it does show a hint of yellow even though it doesn't come out that good on the pictures.


Guess what I missed the first bloom on my Ochracea but there's another bud to open in a day or so. Just hope that it's not a small bloom, hope the yellow is bright too. I started the seed this past spring and had it growing outside all summer. Now it's in the gh.

Helena, thats what happened to me on my ochracea, almost missed it among the foliage.
Ochracea is large compared to the obscura light yellow blooms. I have never been able to germinate
an obscura for some reason. I think I might need to grow it on the fence in summer letting
Mother Nature do all the work for me. :-)

Here's my ochracea bud Jackie. I guess it'll open tomorrow. My first try to germinate ochracea seed years ago failed even after a month I checked and the seed was hard as a rock. It did germinate after I nicked and soacked it overnight on my second try.

I think the blooms on obscura is really light yellow. I also grew it a few years ago.

Good thing I checked in the gh again, after it warmed up ochracea opened. But to me it's still a small bloom.

looks like one I had this summer, only the one I had outside was really dark yellow. I have obscura and ochracea seeds both, so will give them a go again, but am sure my obscura and ochracea vines are still alive, maybe dormant?

Debra. If they're outside, I'm sure they're dormant. My ochracea is greenhoused for the winter so it doesn't go
dormant. :-)

oh no they are inside, dormant.. it is like 17 out.. nothing would survive this cold I think..

The ochracea bloom is still open today along with a few others. Here to enjoy the blooms did a few need things.

I think the 2 blooms are from yesterday and the purple blue are todays.

Pink mauve blzd.

Mauve splash will always be a favorite.

And blue again.

Debra. I don't understand why yours went dormant. Maybe just the change of environment when you took yours inside after being out for the summer?

Helena. all are lovely but the Blue is my favorite, I love it.

All the prennials are dormant except for the i plantesis which nrmally is, and the stictocardia. The moon vine should bloom again tonight.

Your Mauve Splash will most likely make different blooms this summer. The yr I grew 2 of Beckys M.S.,
the flowers differed even on the same vine like yours appears to be doing. The blooms are very variable
