Good series burd. Really enjoyed the mergansers, don't see them too often.

Daddy sitting on his favorite back yard perch. He is watching one of his grown sons from this year. He has been running him off the mealworm feeder and making it clear it's time for junior to find his own place.

Red, that coyote is gorgeous! I haven't seen any around here for a couple years now. I used to love to hear them howling when I was outside.

Rose those dove photos are so beautiful. Love the colors in the feathers.

Burd, more beautiful photos and congrats on the lifers. You were so lucky to see the snowy! Love that last "see you next year" shot!

Red, love the bb photo. I feel bad for the little ones being told to move out though.

Here's one of my busy Bewick's Wrens.

These little fellows arrived this morning. I've never seen them before, but I think they are dark eyed juncos. This would be the right time of year for them to migrate from Canada to Ohio. Taken through the window, the picture is a little blurry.

Here is a closeup of one.

We usually get Juncos in the winter too, and titmice, nuthatches, woodpeckers, and chickadees and occasionally a wren will stop by in passing. They are what I call my winter birds, although I have seen the woodpeckers and nuthatches in the summer too. Havent been out taking pics lately, there have not been anything around.

teddy_8905 - I posted on the old thread. Oops. Thanks for picking up on it. Migrating from Canada to Ohio hardly seems worth the flight ! Cold here too, although this has been a strange winter so far. I don't take many pictures now either. Mostly it is the same jays, sparrows, doves and crows who visited during the summer. But I do enjoy all of them !

Norman, OK

Well, duc, I probably saw close to a hundred eagles today, but it's a remote area and I can't get close enough to photo. Got very few shots. Trying again in the a.m.

Went to Gatorland, a private attraction south of Orlando. There is a large rookery there of wading birds attracted by the visitor feeding of the Alligators. Woodstorks are especially greedy when it comes to hot dogs that are tossed into the gator ponds. The Great White Egrets perch on the backs of Alligators, a good vantage point to watch for fish.

The Egrets seemed to play "King of the Castle" on the backs of Alligators. In this photo you can see one Egret dropping in, feet first, to force the standing Egret to vacate his spot. The evicted Egret came back in about 90 secs to reclaim his spot. I watched 6 Egrets engaged in what I assume is a dominance display. The overfed Alligators seemed to be very tolerant of this activity.

Countrymom, glad you're seeing the juncos.

Red, wow, I can't imagine what it'd be like seeing that many eagles. Great photos.

Bsharf, great pictures of the egret and moorhen.

Here's one of many male Brewer's Blackbirds that love the peanut butter log.

All of you have been seeing some great birds.
Duc all your berry shots are very lovely. Thanks for starting this new thread.
Red, great shot of the coyotte! Amazing, that they come so close to your house.
Chillybean, how I would love to see a Red-bellied Woodpecker. They don't come up here, neither does the Cardinal.
Dellrose, the Pigeon have some really nice colors. I have four coming, and hope the numbers stays low.
Cute Junco, Countrymom, glad your getting to see them and share with us.
Burd, how great that you got to see the Snowy Owl! It's one I hope to see one day. Does the Kestrel stay there all winter?
Those Egret are braver then I am, around the alligators, bsharf.
Winter is here, and so is the appearance of the Cooper ans Sharp-shinned Hawk. There was one in the tree this afternoon waiting for some action. Nanny good Hawk shot.

I found this Ruffed Grouse eating buds of a tree.

Great photos everyone ! I just love seeing birds from all over the country and other countries as well. My crows are beginning to understand that I won't hurt them. They wait on the fence each morning, and I throw peanuts out for them. I talk to them too. I have read that they recognize people and voices. I caught these two with my camera this morning.

Beautiful photos everyone. Love the Crows Countrymom. It is wonderful that they wait for you each morning.

Nice pics everyone. Especially enjoyed the grouse, burn. A pic of a tree full of eagles. There are around 70 eagles in this tree. There was an equal number in a nearby tree and about the same number in a pasture behind the trees. Twenty-five or so were circling overhead mixed with vultures and redtails. Quite a sight to see and hear.

All I wanted was to have 100 bird pics for my "life list" before the end of the year- I got 103 today! My b/f is the GREATEST!!!!!
Wishing everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!!

Lily, such a nice variety of birds at your home. That little sparrow sure is pretty.

Burn, love that grouse photo. The doves and goldfinch are cute too.

Missey, glad your little bird is able to eat with that bill. Poor baby.

Countrymom, I talk to all my birds too. Good one of your crows-I love them and they're so intelligent.

Red, I'm soooo jealous-that tree of eagles is just incredible. Can't imagine more there besides this one.

Ladi Burd, congrats on your life list.

I can't top Red's photo of the eagles, but this one came closer to me yesterday.
