Daily Bird Pics #425

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

From last week...This Cooper's Hawk kept going all around and into these shrubs looking for a meal. It was rather amusing to watch! It ended up leaving empty handed as it were. Later occurred to me I should have put the camera on video! lol

Nice pix everyone. Margaret, it's so nice to see birds that are in their breeding season from down under. Nan, the Brown creeper is in my wish list. Hope all my friends here all have had a wonderful Christmas.

Chilly, it sounds like you had a good time seeing all the birds anyway. I tried taking photos through our car windows too and ended up dumping all of them. Sorry, but at least you can still see the hawk for identification.

Margaret, outstanding photo of the beautiful honeyeaters. Love that corella too.

Nanny, glad the hawk didn't find any birds. Cute photo of the creeper.

Lily, cute photo of your cardinals too.

We've had two Bald Eagles here every day for a while now but the sun is always so bright on them. Guess I shouldn't complain though.

Here is a picture I took while I was out today. We are supposed to get bad weather soon and I was trying to get a good picture. I think this one is a good one. This was in a tree along my route.

The American Wigeon is a sweet little duck which visits our lake now and then.

A good series, duc. Been gone a few days and haven't been on the board. Had about 50 Ring-necked Ducks on the pond this a.m.

I'm chasing info on a congregation of eagles. Have a fellow checking today. If they are there I'll make a trip for some photos.

What a yard bird, ducbucln. Bald Eagles. We've seen them two miles from here, so there's hope...

Always enjoy the Brown Creepers, Nanny. Pretty picture, Teddy.

Thank you for your responses about the "blue" bird. I was sure it would have been a challenge. Here's another picture from that day. I was soo tempted to put it in the Appallingly bad pictures, because we got distracted by this hawk and later learned that behind us was a Snowy Owl. It was way in the field, but there nonetheless.

Quote from Chillybean :
I did want to ask if anyone who knows photo editing would be willing to take a stab at the full-sized version I have of this bird. I've tried adjusting color, but it ends up looking weird. I am glad for the Undo option. :) We were driving into a big city and saw this. I couldn't get the picture quick enough and ended up getting the shot through the blue part of the windshield. My husband could not slow down being there was traffic behind us. It's a Red-tailed Hawk, an Intermediate Morph. I learned this is somewhat rare here in Iowa.

Had a try, here's my best effort. Don't think it is really rescuable, though.

Yes Chillybean I got #100-Rough legged Hawk and I also got 2 more Cackling Goose and American Black Duck (which I had seen before, but never photographed). All I wanted was 100 before the year ended. But I am at 102! :)
