Garden Projects #7
Beautiful lamps for sure!! I'm always attracted to wood, stone and all natural materials inside the house.
I like new uses for old ideas.
Check out the mirrors. They're beautiful, too.
Bill, on drilling those holes with large bits, have you tried drilling from the bottom side first, with a larger bit, then finishing up from the top? Maybe that way you wouldn't blow out any big chunks.
Jan does do some beautiful work. That's an awesome idea to make molds from rocks. I have made ceramic molds before. I made one from a small dragon that I had sculpted from clay. I forget now what was used as a barrier between the sections of the molds when pouring the plaster.

Gardeners Supply use to sell something like this and i decided to take a shot at making one myself with some of the colorful beach stones i have - used copper wire for the legs, eyes, and antenna's and brass rods to attach the stones together - it takes forever to get the clue to harden the wire in place in the winter - a least a week - meet the caterpillar
Not perfect - got rave reviews from my wife though - thing is pretty heavy - now to try and make a frog :)
Love it!! I want one Bill!!!!
thanks celeste
29.95 at gardners supply :) took me weeks to make mine - trial and error - and a LOT of praying the stones would not break as i was drilling the holes
great job. Bill.
On sale for 15.99

But I like yours better. :)
Great insect, Bill. Looks like it was fun to make, and now fun to enjoy.
Oh I love it!!
Very creative, Bill! It would look perfect on my stone wall!
Wha, I am impressed! I wouldn't squish that one. How about an ant? Patti
good job Bill!!!
thanks all - not so sure about creative though as i stole the idea:) as i did with the stone flower arrangements and the frog is from GS as well although my legs will be different.
celeste the colored rocks make all the difference and the stone i had for the head was just perfect. it has great color and is shaped like a bugs head.
plan to make one more smaller one for a piece of branch that is really cool that this one ended up being to big for.
patti an ant is definitely a possibility - over on that other site that begins with allthings........ in the garden art forum they have a lot of cool art made from stone, i have copied and pasted pics for ideas and something to do now the football season is almost over.
Love the caterpillar Bill.
all good to steal an idea.. esp. if you make it better
Wha, Do you think the pats are going to lose?
Bill, I think you should copy this one. ^_^

ooohhh Bill make me some big skeleton ants!!!!
good ideas. Not sure that I would like that fire in the house.
This big one reminds me of a spider, don't think i'd like this one in my yard.

The furniture looks a bit hard to sit on for these old bones.
Give me the tabletop fountain cairns. That would be a terrific next project for Bill.
celeste you have been to busy:)
the turtle is a possibility - i have three rocks from louise and hank to work on and mr. fedX brought my stone cutting wet saw today - it is a warm weather job - hoping to get close and chip it to a turtle - we shall see - owl?? does not get my attention, the ones on GS would be really easy - the cairn is of interest stay tuned for a better version.
i do plan on building a large sitting area lifted above ground with a big seat in front of the pond out back - dan snow a dry waller and artist from vermont has many creative uses of rock that will be coming to a property in pepperell.......again not so creative as much as "i can do that"
patti - i am a cowboys fan and do not want to see the pat's win although they look awfully good right now. out of the 4 left i would pick the ravens just so the others do not get closer to the SB rings dallas has.

Bill....can't believe you didn't like the owl....loved it! However, those water cairns were also wonderful......
ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!
marilyn - you buy the wire i will make the owl for you :) all it needs is a nice round rock
Just tell me what kind, how much, & where I can get it & I will....
i put my foot into it now :) did you go to the gardeners supply site and see the owl?
Told you you're going to have to start your own business.
Retirement hobby that will generate some nice income!
jen you and my wife are beginning to sound alike - wait she doesn't have a jersey accent...........:)
i like the things to much to sell them - made a few more small stone flower arrangements, wife wanted to take one to put in her office - i said no - they are going in the yard - she's not happy :) i think i have to make her one this week for her birthday
that'll brighten her day!
My birthday just passed.
