I don't have any new shots so I thought I would start us off with a pic of a wonderful bird that most of us will not be seeing again until next Spring.
I'm having some computer problems at the moment so I'll be back later with a link to the previous thread.
Lets see some of your beautiful bird photos!
DAILY BIRD PICS VOL # 420
Nanny, great job with the vulture photo in that last thread.
Margaret, the w. kite photos are beautiful. I love that little bit of color on them.
Red, another great job with the hawk in flight.
Pelle, thank you for the new start. Love your hummer photo.
This white-crowned sparrow looked cute with the berries.
Great shots duc! Love that White-crowned Sparrow and the Bewick's Wren!
*** A California Gull has just been reported (by experts) flying past the Avalon Seawatch in NJ.***
Here is their normal range. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/california_gull/id
That hummer is a welcome reminder of the warmer days Pelle.
Duc, those sparrow pictures would make wonderful holiday greeting cards. Oh my goodness, that Berwick's wren series is wonderful. LOL So darned cute. Sure did look like it had buried itself. Great job.
Thanks Pelle for the new thread, and the Larus californicus strayed from West coast to the Eastern region! Wow! Must have baffled the experts. Love that reminder of the warmer days while the hummingbirds were still around. Just wonderful series there Duc, like GG I totally agreed those berries background photos make fine greeting cards for the season. Love that Bewick's Wren and its antics.
What a great start to this new thread. :D That Bewick's Wren is adorable. We tried seeing one spotted a couple hours from here this summer, but missed him. Maybe next year...
Here's Peanut (Our female Yellow-shafted Flicker) tolerating the Red-headed. In no way will she ever let him into the platform feeder when she is in there. We always know it's the same Flicker because she has a feather missing on her back and a little down sticks out.
Great start. Everyone is taking bird pics but Pelle and me. I'm staying home this weekend, so maybe I'll take some. Have to go to OKC tomorrow to a naturalist meeting and a Surf Scoter has been seen on a lake there. I'll swing by there for a lifer, but I know the setup and if I do see her, will be too far away for a pic. I was out before sunrise deer hunting today. Shot 3 bucks-- you can't legally do that with a gun. I'll just post a buck today. The early morning light and fall foliage made a nice shot.
He is BEAUTIFUL red!!!
Lily_love....could that be a sapsucker???

Absolutely gorgeous shot of the buck there Red. Nan, come to think of it. It could possibly be a female, or an immature sapsucker, it's rather large for either the downy or hairy wp. Thanks.
Wow! Outdoor Life cover shot is where that deer photo belongs. Absolutely beautiful! Even licking his chops!
Gee Nanny, you sure do have Pileated Woodpeckers at your house. Other kinds also. The Queen continues her reign.
Nice ones GP! I wonder if that might be a Tanager?
I'm thinking a tanager too; can't decide between Summer and Scarlet. Any more pics of it?

Looks a bit large for a Scarlet to me ......
Looks similar to the female Summer Tanagers I see around here. Went by Lake Hefner in NW OKC today and there were thousands of ducks on the lake, but all out in the middle. Also saw Eared and Horned Grebes, but none near shore. No Surf Scoter I could find among those thousands of suspects. Did get a few shots of Ring-billed Gulls.
That's beautiful, GP. The colurs are sensational. Is that the fire spike plant?
That is very nice GP
Yes, the Hummingbirds seem to prefer it over anything else right now. I just dug up three sections from my main plant and will have additional bushes for them in the near future.
