Very neat Steph.

Missed posting in October, but your bloomers were great everyone! Your pumpkin patch is a novel idea Drthor. Love that dark 'Mystic Malva' Catz!
I took the camera out today when I went to tag Monarchs. Found these two hanging on the West Tx Mistflower in the wind.

My asters are in full bloom and full of bees too. I wonder if that is the reason the butterflies don't use it more for nectar?

I didn't open this and check to make sure, but I am almost certain it is a varigated Fritilary! A couple of their larva host plant are pansies and violets, so don't kill the caterpillars.

Very nice Sheila, I guess Herman is doing better?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sheila, you had a very busy October so you're excused! Hope Herman's doing better!

Beautiful blooms!! I love this time of year!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Well yes and no on Herman. Walking and surgery point healed, but infections have set in due to the massive antiobiotics killing good bacteria when he was going through the two surgeries. I have so many drugs to give him and treatments that I had to make a spreadsheet. He doesn't want to go any where or see anyone (depressed) too. Hopefully after this week the infections will ease up and he will feel better. Take prayers from all who believe.

My only sanity now is the garden and butterflies.....trying to keep positive.

Awww, Sheila, so sorry! Are you giving him loads of acidophilus? That will help restore the good bacteria in his gut and if he can take some milk thistle, that will help clean out the liver that's filtering all the junk in his body. Will be praying for relief for you both.

These volunteer zinnias are blooming like crazy. They got blown over by a strong breeze recently, but keep on going.

Stephanietx is" Strawberry Fields gomphrena" a perennial?
It is beautiful

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Sheila, sorry to hear about the ongoing infections. Hope it will clear up soon. I also bought Fireworks gomphrena and have really enjoyed the continuous blooms. It seems like the blooms never go to seed....
Drthor, speaking of gomphrena going to seed, strawberry fields has come back in a mild winter, but it reseeds freely. I have lots of seed heads for you or anyone else who wants.
I have Belinda Dream too...12" WOW! I love the scent...very dreamy!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Drthor, Gomphrena is a very freely self-seeding annual.

I noticed the first two blooms on my Sheffield Daisies so I ventured out in the backyard today with the camera.

I meant to say the Sheffield Daisies came from Bluesmaven's Mom, Shirley.

Not sure where this one came from but is a cheerful sight.
