Why did he even have one? What the heck was he going to use it for anyway? Very scary
Coffee break #67
Cold cuts?
Ick!!!!
A classmate of my 15 yr old great nephew died from injuries sustained in a car crash. He is devastated. My brother's family has seen way too much heartache through the years.
Ohhhhh, so sorry to hear
Wow - sorry to hear, Jan.
So sorry to hear, Jan!
What a tragedy.
I just talked to my niece who said she and her brother(who was driving) were on their way to school. At a really bad intersection, two cars were stopped, waiting, and the other driver waved the boy to go ahead, but neither saw a third car which T-boned them. She never regained consciousness. What a thing for all involved to live with.
Going to brew myself a cup of tea and put on some socks.
While it waws the driver's fault who waved him on, it soulnd like one of those interesction which needs work. A couple bad ones here have been fixed, but it takes eons for the state to put one on the list 'to do', Really tough on the kids involved.
Niece says it's a very bad intersection. Next time I'm tempted to 'direct' traffic, I'll try to remember this.
Cuppa tea is tasting very good and warming me down to my toes.
very sad jan!
Just got power back after three hours. Found out that the battery backup on my computer can beep for three hours and that I can't turn the oven on but the burners will keep the house warmish.
Jan my deepest condolences to you and your family. I'm so sorry for your great niece and nephew, their lives are forever altered. After watching Joshua deal with the death of 2 friends this past month I can tell you the emotions are hard to watch as your loved one goes through them. I've witnesses heart break, anger, survivor guilt, the what if's, the could be's.....it's been a long month. :(
I hugged him extra tight, and called out of the blue and ask if he was ok, need to talk and so on. I wasn't afraid to bring his friends names up, he needed to talk about them and I gave him the opening. I also didn't get upset when he snapped at me, I knew it wasn't me he was angry at. But what I wanted most of all, and I'm sure you and their parents feel the same way, was to wrap my arms around him and protect him from this kind of heart ache.
What he finally told me the other day made perfect sense, and it made me as an older adult look at how he felt a little differently. He said:
" Losing A.J. & Christiana is like losing a piece of your past. They knew you, and you them, on a different level than your parents or siblings. You did things with them that you wouldn't of done with your parents and they were part of your growing up process, on a peer level and not on a adult/child level. " It made sense, I could feel his saddness, but now after he finally opened up... I understood it.
Hugs & Blessings to those two, they have a rough road ahead. :(
Thanx everyone, I'll pass on your sentiments.
Joshua said it very well, Celeste. As a mother you do just want to try to protect and nurture everyone.
Well, I'm home for the day, office is closed - no power.
Our church is doing a trunk-or-treat event soon. Gotta get over there.
It is 8:05 and I have passed out 144 pencils plus a couple of toys for the children that I know. The lights are off and I am done. Happy Halloween.
No customers. We are going to be eating a bunch of corn curls. I don't get candy as I can't eat muc & DH doesn't have a sweet tooth.
We had about 25 kids. We had an outdoor fire, I made garlic bean soup, and sausages on the fire. It was fun, except my eyes are burning from cooking over the fire.
Had a migraine so shut out all the lights and went and laid down in bedroom while hubby took the kids to our friends' house, we normally don't get that many....I think the most we've ever gotten here was 10 kids(and that may be pushing it) I bought the little bags of goldfish crackers, figured better than having candy around, that way I can use it for their lunch snack
oh yeah and hubby got hit(by some moron doing a u turn in the middle of the road) on the way to our friends' just a bumper scrape cause he was in his pick up, the guys car was much worse and he took off, would have probably gotten deported if the cops got involved
Sounds great, Deb!
Only about 6 or 7 groups here.
Cute! I love it when the parents dress up, too.
I have no idea where my girls got that from. ^_^
Cute Celeste!
Cute pics.
Hope you're feeling better today, Jen.
We had about 15 cars set up with treats as well as free hot dogs, popcorn, and drinks. My guess is between 150 and 170 kids came through. It was a lot of fun.
halloween was cancelled in most towns due to the poser outages
nice to see the rest of you have a good time
Cute Celeste
Funny Deb
Thanks Jan, I am.
my town did their trick or treating on Sun. we had about 180 kids show up. love the big bags of candy from Sam's Club, nor much is left!
Funny, Deb!
If anyone did not read the eulogy Steve Jobs's sister wrote, you really should. And his last words are very interesting.
Can you post a link?
Talk about my mother, but don't mess with my candy!
