Great series Burd, Elphy and Nan. Burd, I see Belted Kingfisher quite often, but being able to catch them perching is a rare occassion. Love the dee. Wren and the rest.

Great birds, everyone. I finally have something to add. New one for me. A White-plumed Honeyeater, taken a few hundred km north of Perth.

These birds were either seen or heard in several places I visited.

There were ospreys everywhere. It was a dull, overcast day and I didn't mange to get any good shots, but want to share this one anyway. (Heavily cropped and enhanced in elements)

These two had a nest on an artificial platform right on the main beach at a tiny fishing hamlet. They flew down to the waters edge and started to bathe, but were spooked and flew off. Pity.

Wow, we've one terrific thread with Elphy's series at the beginning, and many others contributions from everyone in between, then ended with Margaret wonderful birds from far far away land. It's time for a new thread I'll open one, please come and join me here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1227188/

I have posted a picture of my homemade bird bath, I was just wondering, should I move it to under the tree where the other one was? It is at the corner of the house, I was just wondering if it is too close to the house for some birds. I am going to try my best to keep the water clean and fresh this winter, it will be the first time I had a bird bath out in the winter. We have red-bellied wps and juncos and lots of winter birds, I would like to see some new kinds, maybe with a bird bath I will. I have stones in the bottom for them to stand on and a large piece of concrete in the middle for them to stand on. I would like the Pileated Wp to come and drink, but if I put it beside the tree, I don't know if they would see it. Suggestions anyone?
