New Holland Honeyeater in the grape vine at the osprey nest yesterday.

They were all around me, often far too close to be able to get a shot.

A late migrating male Ruby Throated Hummingbird. He's all hunkered down in the cold and wet.

The sun has been too bright each time I've tried to catch the mockingbirds, but here's one.

First male Painted Bunting of the fall showed up today, along with a group of females and Indigo Buntings.

Saw several White-throated Sparrows this morning on our walk!

When I came down the tower at Sheldon Lake, all these sparrows started popping up. I think they were mostly Lincoln's. Too bad this one has a little shade on his nose!

Out on the prairie trail, there was this Grasshopper Sparrow.

and just in case you were getting tired of sparrows, another sparrow! I didn't crop this b/c I like the scenery -- a White-crowned Sparrow.

Hanging out with the sparrows was this Common Yellowthroated Warbler.

Last and least I'm afraid. I wish this pic were better b/c it was so cool. This kestrel caught and ate a dragonfly in front of me.

Got this pic when I went out to check on flowers, not sure what it is, tried to clean it up and zoom in a bit but still not sure, can someone id this bird?

I think you girls have more birds than I do. At least I have some big ones. A couple of second-year gobblers.

Great photos once again everyone. Red, we have 6 turkeys walking around our area, only trouble is that they sure aren't as pretty as yours!

Do you have Merriam's up there? These are Rio Grandes. I overhauled that dark shot in PS and got a little more light in it.

I tend to overlook the hens because the gobblers are bigger and more colorful, but the hens are interesting birds, too. Here is a couple from this a.m.

The Red-shouldered Hawks seem to be moving back in for the winter. I saw several today, but only one close enough to photo.

I was excited when 3 Cooper's Hawks showed up the other day. I haven't seen them together like that before. I only saw this one b/c it called to the one I was following across the street. Never heard one before either.

Biggest, prettiest house finch in the yard, but super camera shy.

Great shots everyone!! Was finally able to spend a few hour's for some photo's, we've had rain and wind here for a few days.
A visit to Sheldon's Marsh was productive today. Start off with a close-up of a Blackpoll Warbler.

A busy Black-capped Chickadee stopped to pose for the camera.

Too many people out with the nice day...so this female Belted Kingfisher was too nervous to dive for a fish although she was perfectly comfortable with my presence and allowed a couple of shots.

Declining in numbers... but Sheldon's has a nice group of 50 or so Rusty Blackbird's still hanging around for the berries which are still plentiful yet.
