Circleville, OH(Zone 8b)

Hi Michele

Well I used to live in New Mexico till I moved to Ohio 12 years ago. I love the southwest, love to visit but not sure I would ever move back there.

I do miss the artwork out there as well, and the mountains, all there is here is hills.

Crossville, TN

Michelle, I would love to trade with you...unfortunatley, we only moved here a little over a year ago and have NOTHING to trade yet. The 4 acres were bare except for Mesquite, some little Hedge Hog cactus, and various dandleions type plants. We did visit the Arizona Cactus Center and they gave us some pads from a large, fast growing cactus....they now have 3 to 4 new "ears" on each one. (hope this turns into a hyperlink) Good info on cactus here...very nice people...and helpful too. Jo

Thanks Mike ! JO, This is THE TIME of year in your area to collect native seed , (lawfully) from Native Trees , Shrubs. I collect from my own property, and from freinds property, with permission. This month I collected Catclaw acacia, Creosote, Dasylirion wheeleri, Mojave Yucca. Pink Flowering Yucca(hesperaloe). Once you get the idea of how to collect seed, a whole new world will open up. For Trades and your personal garden use. Thanks for the link!Ill check it out.

Desert Hot Springs, CA(Zone 10b)

Hey, Michele! I'm just a few miles from you in DHS. I'm doing my best to collect natives and exotic low water use plants, too.I'm putting a list of my trades up soon. Unfortunately I think most of my trades are for fall planting. Just a little late, but I have some spring seeds and some cactus cuttings, too.

Queen Creek, AZ(Zone 10a)

Hi Michelle! Greeting from Queen Creek, Arizona! I am trying to propogate Creosote Bushes. Collected seeds from the biggest one we have (we call it Big Mama!). Anyone out there ever grown these guys from seeds? Would love to hear from you! We are using them as a bordering type bush on our property line. Anyway, we just planted them last Sunday. We'll see how they do. I found info on the web that said to put them in a pan, cover with boiling water, let set overnight and plant in pots. We did all that except we put them outside where we ultimately wanted them. Haven't had much luck transplanting these guys, so....

Mesilla Park, NM

That's great.. i've been looking for some things on your trade list.. sending you some mail.. trying to xeriscape here too. Moreno Valley, am about 20/35 miles west of Morongo Valley/Palm Springs.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

This thread is about 3-1/2 years old and I checked and Michelle is no longer a subscriber so won't see replies to this thread. However, if you send DG mail and her email addy hasn't changed in a couple of years she might just get your message.

Mesilla Park, NM

langbr, thanks for letting me know about the date. Boy, I'd be waiting forever.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

We've gotta get her back on DG. She was great fun!

Queen Creek, AZ(Zone 10a)

Boy do I feel silly - not even noticing the date on the last response!! I've been a member of DG for awhile but haven't really participated til now. Good lesson! I had just done a search for "creosote" looking for some info on the desert plant, and I got this... Thanks for the info, langbr!

Queen Creek, AZ(Zone 9a)

I've got 2 acres and 1 of them is loaded with Creosote. I wish I could dig some up and give them to you. They are very difficult to transplant or propagate. Whats even weirder is the fact that those plants can be destroyed right to ground level and the first rain that hits them they start to sprout all over. There has to be a way to do this and get decent results. That idea of using them as property line bushes is great. I love their yellow flowers.

lantanalover I notice your zone is 10a, I wonder if that would include me. When I put my zipcode in it told me I was 9a. I don't know where you are in Queen Creek, but I'm in the San Tans.
