Glorious rain has been falling in southwest Fort Worth for the past hour!! It's a nice gentle rain. We've only gotten about 1/8", but the ground has been able to absorb it and the plants are loving it!
RAIN!
We got just enough to wet the ground but it sure is nice and it gives us hope.
Set your raincatchers out, steady drizzles still make runnin rivulets on concrete!
It is raining a little heavier now and it feels so good!!
Jealous in W. Houston! Well, it was a little cloudy anyway... :)
Hoooray!! I've been praying for y'all to get rain!
WOw, it's so nice to have a nice cooling rain......Ahhhh
We ended up with between 3/4" and 1" of the lovely wet stuff. My plants are certainly appreciative!
I got a little over 1/2" -- with a good chance of getting more this weekend. Needless to say, there wasn't a drop of runoff -- ground absorbed it like a sponge. Maybe, just maybe, things are finally starting to change and this horrible drought is on the way out.

I surely hope so this drought has been horrendous!!
Dont count your chickens before they are hatched! Indian Summer feels good this morning!
My red turks cap is so happy with this rain. I think the color actually looks brighter and deeper red today after all the rain yesterday. It was flocked with butterflies early this afternoon. I'm not real good on BF ID's yet but they were redish-orange ones. The turks cap is planted right in front of my passion flower vine that has had tons of GF cats on it, so maybe they are GF butterflies.
It looks like you are doing great!!!
Great going Steph! I have found no cats on any of my plants. I do have lots of bees, though.
Isn't rain wonderful??
Wichita Falls, at least my yard, managed to receive 2" over 2 days. Last night, all hell broke loose, and it dumped and blew. What a thunderstorm! Loud and nasty. Water was standing everywhere. This morning it is all soaked in and the ground looks so moist. Wondering just how deep it went. Our electricity was out for 10 hours, thankfully most of that was sleep time and I could open some windows.
There is wind damage -- but well worth it!
Wow, you know we are desperate when we are cheering for wind damage!! Ok, not cheering maybe...
We also received some rain here in W. Houston--YIPPEE! And last night, I had weird dreams of having some passion flower vines growing inside my house and one day they were fine and the next day they were covered with little red and black caterpillars. And I wanted to leave them alone, so they could grow into butterflies, but there were tons of them! I wondered how they all got into my house so fast... hahaha! I need to stop reading DG stories about cats and looking at the pictures, I guess!! Janet
lol Isn't there a word for when it starts raining, but then evaporates before it hits the ground? We had about half an hour of that this morning...
Rowlett got 1/2" on Friday and 2-1/2" on Sunday night (along with hail and high winds -- yikes!). I don't know who is happier -- my plants for the rain or me because I won't have to water for several days. :-)

When the rain never reaches the ground it is called a 'virgin rain'
SUH-WEET!
I am thankful to live west of I-35. It started raining last night around 7pm and hasn't really stopped since. We've had a nice, soaking rain all night and all morning so far. Not too much thunder and lightning either. My rain gauge is reading 4.5" and tops out at 5", so I'll have to wander out in the rain to dump it! LOL I set out all the plants that I'd dug up for the RU in an area where they can get rain to help them take off.
I can see some plants getting greener before my eyes!
I'm so glad that I got several things in the ground yesterday. Hopefully they will be very happy and not show too many signs of transplant stress now.
All of the creeks and drainage ditches around me are completely full!! We have a 'pond' (run off collection area) near my house that has been nearly empty all summer. It is 3/4 full so far with this rain.
We officially got 5 inches at the airport. It started raining mid afternoon and continued through the night. Loved hearing the rain through the open windows! The rain has stopped but its still cloudy and cool. I keep going outside and just wandering about the yard. My mom got 5 inches in Marble Falls also.
Still raining here in Arlington, haven't checked how much yet.
FINALLY here is Austin. Alas, just a little more than inch where I am, but I swear, the grass is already greener.
We got 5" and it's stopped raining. Looking at the radar, I don't see anything else coming.
FInially, some in Liberty Hill. It stormed all night it was great. I'd say at least 3 inches. Everything is muddy, for the first time in months
We got 6 " according to our rain gage in Cleburne. Thank the Lord this was the driest it has ever been in the 31 years we have lived here..
