Pretty big fox! Must be eating good!

Thomaston, CT

Hopefully, not the chickens!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Unfortunately, yes the chickens. We have 3 different flocks around me so I see her and her kits every night.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

this didn't get a bite on the Pests forum, and frankly I don't know if anyone will be able to answer, but I had to try my luck here with all the best gardeners in the world. why no, I'm not kissing your ass, why do you ask??

Any idea??

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes, they can be very nasty.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

you are so awesome! now I know who to look out for.

though now I want to know what else the larva eats as we don't have any cicadas currently. ooh, and looks like the below site is looking for reports of these guys.

I read that you can cover the hole up with a clear bowl(so you can see it there and remember why the bowl is there) that the wasps don't have another way to get out and they will just die

Thomaston, CT

Sounds like a good plan!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Well we are back on the fox thread....so I guess this would be a good spot to say we had a black bear in the middle of Portland the other morning. It was up a tree in a area where school kids would be walking to school in a few hours so they shot it. I don't mean shot it with a tranquilizer either!! I was P.O. when I read that!!!!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow.. would never happen here

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

sorry to hear about the neighbors Victor.. always does seem to happen to the nicest ones

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I am now on vacation.
Not really, I still have to work but Brian & Joshua are gone up North on a moose hunt. Now, if God's willing and the creek don't rise, they will be gone a full week. ^_^

RUN BULLWINKLE! RUN!!!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Run moose run!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Allison.

Wow - didn't know moose were hunted. Poor moose.

Interesting about that wasp hole. Would have been funny if it came out while snapping the pic!

Thomaston, CT

My stepson has been waiting years to win a spot in the moose lottery....I'm hoping he doesn't get one...he shot one in Canada a while back....the meat was tasty.

Thomaston, CT

Just read Victor's post....awful....how very hard to lose one child, but two? Can't even imagine the sadness.....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

On my niece's page....just had to share it with you. I cracked up on this!!!

What do you mean by that?????????? ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Well Saudi Arabia has finally given in and granted women the right to vote. However, they are still forbidden to drive. So how many men will give them a lift to the polls?!!! Not holding my breath.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Anyone entering the DG County Fair? I did not last year, but might submit a few pics if I can find appropriate ones. I assume a horse is still considered a farm animal even though they don't work in the fields much anymore. Correct? Coming form the city, anything other than a cat, dog, squirrel and pigeon is a farm animal to me.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

LOL! Yes Victor, a horse is a farm animal. So are pigs, chicken, cows, and these little guys. :)

Cute!!! Good thing I only eat ugly animals.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And would rats be considered domestic pets??

Thomaston, CT

I believe so, although I'll never know them personally! Cute photo on your niece's page, Pixie!

Thomaston, CT

Teaching the writing class this morning since our usual teacher is in Penn. Adults are much better behaved....I hope!

Thomaston, CT

Oh, when I get back from class, I'll replant my DLs...the crew has just backfilled my road gardens.......

I have seen wasp make those holes here in my yard. They were a blueish blackish shiny color. Looked something like this one

Stinger looks lethal. Small mosquitos are bad enough.

would not know as I would not be that close to his stinger!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh geez

Thomaston, CT

If the inventor of Doritos lived to 97, they can't be that bad, can they? Or did he never eat them? Sherrie, that wasp looks scary....I've vacuumed about a dozen wasp bodies just in my bedroom.....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

All those preservatives kept him alive longer

Thomaston, CT

LOL....
