I just posted photos on the daylily forum but for some reason 2 of the photos won't send, they preview fine, then I send and they don't show up on the thread.

Photos wont send
Hi Margaret,
By any chance do any of the photos have the same name as others you posted? I don't think the server will accept a 2nd photo with the same name. At least, I believe that was the case at one time. If the file names are similar, you might have better luck if you change them.
That's the only thing I can think of, except that sometimes I've had difficulty uploading super large files. The server usually downsizes large files so that they can be posted successfully, but on rare occasion I've known the system to time out before it finishes; however, if you are getting the preview that probably isn't your problem. Also, if the file type is something other than jpg, that may be the problem as some file types won't upload.
If none of these ideas help, hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will come along soon.
Both of those suggestions are correct. You can switch browsers and see if it is something unique to the one you're using. I know many members like Firefox and chrome is getting good reviews as well.
Let us know if it continues.
I think you also need to type something in the message box (can't just post a pic by itself). And I think the text also needs to be different each time.
yes, that is also correct.
I use Firefox, they were different photos, jpg and I had typed the daylily names in the box and like I said they previewed perfectly. I have never had a problem before so maybe it is the system. I think I will try again and see if they will post.
Thanks.
I just tried to post again and it will not send.
If they're different file names, you're including text, and the text is different in each post then I'd suspect maybe the file size is your problem...I'd try downsizing the pics a bit in whatever photo editing software you have on your computer and try again and see if that helps. As DreamOfSpring mentioned usually the system times out on uploading large pics so I would think the preview wouldn't work in that case, but my only personal experience with this is trying to upload things to Plant Files so I'm not sure what happens if you try to upload something really big to a thread. Only other thing I can think of is if someone else already uploaded pics of the same daylily and included the same text in their post?
Whoohoo!! I finally got those photos to post. In previous attempts I had browsed then wrote in the box, after checking what I had posted before I decided to try writing first then browse.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
Margaret
Glad it worked!
Wonderful!
I cant get a image to post with a new camera. I hope its just a quirk. On occasion my old camera had the problem every few hundred posts to DG. Never figured out why. The same message of "Has to be a gpg"..and of course all my photos are.
How large are the images? Sometimes new cameras have such a large resolution that the system times out before they post. Try reducing them down to about 1000 pixels on the long side and see if that helps. My camera is 18 megapixels and that makes the images over 5,000 wide on the long side and sometimes I have trouble uploading. see if reducing helps and let me know. (I'm not having any other reports, so lets try to find out what is happening in your system)
