Hi All,

We just released a security update to our registration process and profiles for new registered members, and I wanted to bring it to your attention, although your accounts should not be impacted:

1. For NEW members that are registering for the FIRST time on DavesGarden.com we've added a CAPTCHA form in this sign up process to help prevent against "robot" sign ups. A "robot sign up" is essentially a script that signs up hundreds or thousands of accounts at once, which leads to a flood of spam accounts, spam posts in our forums, and REAL headaches for our Admin team. This update will make our registration process more secure.

2. For NEW registered members ONLY, that have registered for the first time today and anytime in the future, we are suspending their ability to add links in their profile. *If you have registered on Dave's Garden before today you still have the ability to access, edit, and add links to your profile, AND we have no intention of taking this away from you!* Also, if a new registered member subscribes to DG, they gain the ability to add links to their profiles. We removed the ability for new members to add links because we were seeing a lot of abuse from spam accounts.

I am thrilled to get this update out because it really makes DG that much more secure for all of us! Hopefully these security measures will also make it a bit easier for us to moderate spam and deal with it that much quicker!
