Cem.... That is a Gulf Fritillary that you chased! They can be really fast, good shots. If you have any passiflora vines around you might check it for caterpillars. That is the GF's host plant.

I will Sheila, and thanks for the id. I do have 2 passiflora vines, but I didnt see any cats. on them today. I'll keep checking. Here's another butterfly that I got a picture of on 8/23, and I'm still seeing them in the garden. Annette
