Is anyone else having to scroll side to side again?

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi, all...

When the navigation box was in process a few weeks ago we all disliked having to scroll through the pages, having the blank spot to the left, etc.

All of a sudden I'm having to scroll again. All the pages are being cut off (right side of screen) so am wondering was there another change or is it just me? Anyone else experiencing this?

If not, does anyone have any idea how I can get it back like it was? I haven't changed any screen settings or font size so am curious.

Thanks!

'Shoe, I don't think anything has been changed. Mine doesn't cut off on the right, so no scrolling here.

Nothing's been changed since the fix was deployed. Have you downloaded any Microsoft updates lately?
Sometimes they cause things to get wonky.

Thanks, Mel and Terry.

Hmmm...I'll double check things on this end then. I lost power during a storm and wonder if it caused something to reset on my computer.

I'll tweak a few things when I come back in for my tomato sandwich!

Thanks again!
Wishing ya'll a great day...

Okay, I just discovered the problem.
Will share with ya'll in case anyone else has this happen in the future.

Using FireFox. For some reason my "Zoom Text Only" feature was enabled. (Under "View", then "Zoom", then a drop down box give you choices to zoom in, zoom out, and zoom text only.)

Apparently what it does is increase the width of the columns (Author column and Post column) in an effort to increase the text.

Happy to be back to normal again!
Sorry for the interruption!

I'm glad it was an easy fix.
Don't hesitate to let us know if you see anything else not behaving properly!

And thanks for sharing - that may indeed be a handy tip for others!

I'm kinda late Shoe, but thanks for letting us know. I have had that problem in the past and don't remember fixing it. Normally if I can't figure it out I will do a restore and that sometimes takes care of it. But that is a bit drastic for a simple problem.

Just remembered you are in NC. Hope you made it thru Irene ok???? Let us know. Jeanette

howdy, Jnette...

Yep, doing fine here. I'm in the area that is just getting lots of wind, very little rain so far. It's pretty scary outside but fairly nice and refreshing (no high heat today!).

Lots of folks east of me w/no power, flooded roads, etc. More rain to come tonight, more wind, then back to sunny and 90º tomorrow.

Thanks for asking.
Best,

'shoe I hope you and yours are okay in this storm, along with all of our other DG members who are in the path of Irene. Be safe, friend.

Thanks, Terry....

Fine as frog's hair here. Our area is safe so far. I think the states north of us are gonna take the brunt of it, unless Irene takes an eastern turn.

Lights flickered on and off here but that was about it. No trees down, only a few branches here and there. I'm relieved.

Wish I could send you some of the rain though...methinks you need it, too.

When this problem cropped up, I remembered seeing this thread but my aggravation is a bit different.

I don't have to scroll on the forums but when I go to the dmail program I have to scroll sideways to read each line.

I tried the suggested Firefox correction listed above but see no change in dmails. Any thoughts?

I just opened a random dmail and it was fine. Is it just one dmail in particular? If so, it may be something in the text. Just as when someone puts a long unbroken string of characters (******** or __________________ or !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) in a forum thread, dmail acts the same way...it just keeps stretching wider to accommodate it, so the string won't get cut off.

Yes... you are correct it is only in one dmail. Not sure as to the cause but no big matter.
Once again, thanks for hitting the nail on the head. Appreciate it...

Glad to help :-)

Another question about mails? How come when I hit "skip to new" on dmails it doesn't skip to new. But just goes down a few lines. This only happens some of the time.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

If it is your first reading of the dmail, it can't skip down the page. Or if you've marked it as unread, it won't skip beyond where you were before you read it, then marked it unread.

If your connection is a little slow and you don't let the page load all the way before you click "skip to new" it won't work properly either. (this would happen on threads too, not just dmails)

Yes Ecrane3... that happened to me on dial up in the later days. In the early days of DG that wasn't an issue so it took some effort to break that habit.

Mine works fine on the forums only have this problem on the private dmails. I'm just wondering why I only notice it on the dmails.

Terry-in an above post you said a "random dmail " I'm assuming this is one of your dmails and not one of our "private dmails". It may not make an difference but it seems strange to think our private dmails are really not private?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I randomly picked one of my own dmails.
