Yesterday I went with Dad and my friend Gretchen (she is my friend Karen's daughter who is planning to move in with us soon) to visit Pam (Pfg) and Marilyn (Robindog) in CT. We went first to Pam's place, which actually is a summer weekend place, where she and her friend Jerry stay when they are not in Long Island. She has been restoring the old gardens there that had once belonged to a daylily hybridizer (Pam, what was his name?). She has about 9 acres there, maybe about 2 in cultivation. Very beautiful place up in the hills, surrounded by beautiful countryside (would make a great photo trip in the fall!). She has done a fantastic job, struggling with lots of invasive plants, as a lot of us do. We had a fantastic lunch there and good conversation. She and Jerry were great hosts.
I did not have my memory card in my camera, so fortunately Pam had one that just the one I needed. She let me borrow hers, and she copied the pics onto her laptop, then put them onto a CD for me. Thanks so much, Pam, for that and your great hospitality!
After visiting Pam's we went to Marilyn's house. Unfortunately, with no memory card in my camera, I was not able to take pics there. My batteries were threatening to die by then, anyhow, and no back-ups. Marilyn gave us the grand tour. Her gardens looked great, with lots of nice daylilies in bloom. I even got piece of a geranium and a gorgeous daylily to take home with me. Thanks, Marilyn! We had a wonderful time, and would love to stop by again someday. Maybe we'll have more time next time to do some blueberry picking at your son's place.
So here are some pics from Pfg's gardens.
