I've not got any new shots to begin this thread with so have plunged into the archives. First, a male Blue-billed Duck in breeding colours.

Thanks for the great start, Margaret. One of the second brood mockingbird babies is MIA. The nest is crowded, suspect he got pushed out, but I searched for him and have watched the parents to see if they are feeding it. No luck. The other three are growing fast.

We are leaving for Santa Fe for a couple of weeks, so these guys will be gone when we get back. I'll see if I can get some pics of western birds while we are gone.

Great photos on the last thread everyone!

Thank you Margaret for the new start. Love your photos.

Great shots everyone! VA Wild Rose, enjoy your vacation.

I'm trying to catch up, but I always seem to get further behind with my photos. I'll start off with one of our bald eagles that flew past as we were having lunch.

It turned and flew past us again, think it was wondering why my dog was barking at it.

This Cooper's Hawk didn't stay long when the blackbirds and tree swallows started diving at it.

Here's an osprey that must have a nearby nest because it's always in the area.

This female HOSP was acting fierce to scare off a towhee.

And a female tree swallow. I think we have still have two houses of chicks that may be almost ready to fledge. They're beginning to really hang out of the houses.

Neat shots duc! Our Cooper's has been here the last 3 days and no luck yet of getting a shot of it! lol

Young White-breasted Nuthatch....I was really too close & should have backed up the zoom a bit!

Teddy, I hope you see this. I saw your question on the previous thread. I have a cement bird bath right on the ground and we have Robins, Cardinals and even a Common Yellowthroat use it. Possibly others, but I haven't noticed. It's not in a great spot for watching from the window. My only concern about a trash can lid is the little birds not getting a foothold when they are in the water. Will you be putting stones in the bottom?

It's been so hot here, I've had to turn on the sprinkler for our ducks as they try to get into the cement bird bath when we have them loose. It is so sad to see them panting in the heat.

I need to get my newest pictures on the 'puter. You all have some great ones. The Purple Finch's hair-raising is funny. I just love the birds' unique behaviours.

Marlton, NJ

Love the Titmouse duc!
