If Angels in a pot, I would prolly leave it in that pot for winter, set it in another pot with a little potting medium after trimming the roots back a bit. That is how I keep mine thru winter. ( the ones I don't hack off for standards) then it will be a tree form for you.. ( strip off any thing along the trunk for a tree umbrella type form) this is what a brug grower taught me. She pots them" up" only if they are going to continue to grow under her lights, in the tree form. She does trim them up a bit, to get more growth on top. She saves the trimmings and starts new plants. Last Year, I just threw the root balls in a tub of potting mix, and threw some water in once a month. they are all growing now.. This year I will keep the tree forms I am hanging on to, and cutting the tops off of the ones I am sending away to people, and saving the bottoms for me. I may stick a few of the tall trunks into a pot of rooting medium and do like I did last year and root them before sending out.
here is "Flame's" side growth shoots...

I have been dealing with the same thing, I have been sick, I was going to go get the flu shot, but then I started running a fever, today is the first day I have felt half way decent, so I have been stocking up on potting soil, the Brug digging will be soon, I found 6 broken bags at lowes
so I bought all of them plus a couple bags of MG plus 1 Big back of Moisture Max, I also got to visit my GD & GS
next week there should be a Beautiful show of Brug Blooms, it seems they really like the cooler weather, my Plumeria's haven't even Bloomed
I think I will pot them up soon, I really like your plant room or should I say plant house, I didn't mean to worry anyone
Elizabeth

Because I live in Cleveland Ohio and must bring my brugs in they are all in pots. Doesn't seen to hold them back. My trees are 7' tall with 3" diameter trunks. Last year my pink grew 7' tall by 7'wide with over 300 flowers when I took it to the county fair in August. Took a Best of Show.
The most important thing to remember about container gardening is fertilize and water until you think you have done it enough then fertilize and water again!
Happy Gardening,
Phyllis
Hello, Elizabeth, it has been too long since we heard from you.
How about a painted lady to cheer you up. Got lots of buds here too, weather getting cooler and they do love it, toss in some rain and they are loving it.
I had a plumeria bloom. It smelled so good. Mine is in a pot it has outgrowm I know I'm going to have to put it in new pot. Is that good to repot them in Fall. Know it will break.
Charleen
ARE THEY ( Pumeria) EASY TO ROOT ????
I Bought a painted lady Brug from a co-op last fall non of the brugs i bought survived I was just sick over paying out almost $40. for cuttings & they didn't make it but yet all the cuttings i got from gardening friends made it through the winter & Blooming their little ole stems out :)))
char could i get on your list of cuttings if you have any to share .
well daddys watching his watch its time for his bath so you all have a great evening .
susie
Sent you a note Susie...
Good evening everyone
Susie, sounds like you & your Family have your hands full
Charlene, it's good to see you
Phyllis, I know exactly where you live, I used to live in Cleveland with my sister near the Browns stadium, I loved watching the fireworks over the lake, near Clifton Blvd, but the winters were really cold, so I came back closer to Cincinatti, I can see why you grow yours in pots, my sister now lives near Sandusky. she loves my Brugs, but doesn't grow them, in about a week, I'll have a Beautiful Show, I have so many in Bud right now, have a great evening I'll be back on in the morning
Elizabeth
Susie, yes plumerias are very easy to start from cuttings. My daughter brought me a stick from Hawaii 3 years ago, with instructions that said basically 'stick it in the dirt' and would you believe, it put up leaves and grew! They do like the tropical conditions, though. Lots of heat, light and humidity. Mine is 5ft. tall and wide now, and bloomed non-stop from April until just about a week ago.
Your 'Painted Lady' is a gorgeous color, Charleen. Here's my 'Charles Grimaldi' which just finished blooming yesterday. It has 4 more buds coming, though. I have one I call 'Debra's Monster White' in bloom right now, but it's too dark out to get a decent picture.
Elaine
My plumeria started out as two small starts I got last year. They weren't too small but enough to put in a pot together. Now I have a sprawled out leaning critter that needs to be much shorter. I know It's going to be hard to carry in. May have to go ahead and divide it and cut it back some. This will be my first time cutting back plumerias, hope I don't mess up. But it bloomed this year and the smell was heavenly.
Thank you, lobe th CG too. Haven't had any yellows bloomyet.
Charlene
I don't know why my Plumeria's haven't Bloomed, they just keep growing, but not Blooming, now it's time to dig them up. oh well maybe next year, have a great evening everyone
Elizabeth
Hetty told me we weren't tropical enough. I know you are less tropical than I am girl. She told me I needed to add lights to tehm, then in spring they like lots of water and fertilizer. Mine hasn't bloomed solidly but I'm getting some and Elizabeth they smell so fruity. Are yours supposed to be that color, if not I'll be glad to share. I know I'm going to have enough.
Here is my plant, you won't believe it!!!! I know I don't, it's sprawled all over and I'm going to need to move it. I'm going to cut it back ---hard!!!
Charleen
Mine is not blooming either, Yours looks awesome.
Mine bloomed last year but this year lots of growth, no blooms.
Charlene
your Plumeria is Awesome, I have mine planted in the ground, acording to the wether report, I may have to start digging them this week end
you're right you are more tropical there than here, last year mine Bloomed, I love the fragrance, I have enough of them, I have 5, that's enough to worry about this winter, I did get a sale on potting soil, so I have stocked up, any way I will have all my stuff dug up by the 15th of October
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, if you've got some old sheets or blankets you can cover the foliage with, you really don't need to dig your plumerias up just yet. It's possible you'll have more warm weather after just a few cold nights, right? The ground stays warm a long time after the first little frosts.
Mine stay outdoors all year 'round and we have had some dandy frosts the last two winters. They stop blooming but don't even lose their leaves if you cover them.
ps. Susie, if you want to try to root your cuttings, I was reading that you need to let the cut ends scab over and form a 'callus' before you plant them. (I got mine already dried and callus'ed) I think brug cuttings root better if you do this as well.
Elaine
Yep, I have some Brugs started for Doris in sand. They look like they took.Got new leaves on them.
OOOH That is so pretty ELAINE is that a Plumeria ?? Do that grow very fast ? or it just depends on soil type & Humidity???
it will be very warm in my little place the Brugs are loven it , right now a momma cat has made her way into my back porch while i was gone today & Has had two kittens & I Hope that is it .
so back in the morning all.
susie
