Garden Watchdog question.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Do you have to be a member of DG to leave a rating in the Garden Watchdog? The topic came up recently and I honestly don't know the answer!

Thanks,

You need to be a member to add comments on any part of DG.

Thank you faeden.

I had thought Plant Files and possibly the Garden Watchdog were different.

Now I know the correct answer. :)

You're welcome. I wasn't sure myself so I logged out and then tried to add a comment to GW. I got a little message that nicely informed me I needed become a member to do that.

LOL I considered doing the same thing but I'm running in 10 directions today.

Thanks for going the extra mile!

No problem!

Clarification: are we not again confusing "subscriber" with "member"? Certainly you have to a "member" but its free for signing up. Some areas are open only to "subscibers". Is this one of them. I don't know, but I did a sample of reviews and most don't seem to be "subscribers".

That's what I thought too Farmerdill. That's the reason I became a 'subscriber' because I found DG from using the Watchdog.

Yes, any registered member can leave a review, this protects your email address and personal information. Even though over 70% of our reviews are positive, we do not want to deter someone from posting feedback if they feel their private information is accessible.

Farmerdill, we were discussing members vs. non-members, not subscribers vs. non-subscribers.

PoinT is. There is really no such thing as a non member. Only those who choose not to participate at all. There are restrictions placed on those who use site for free. Much is restricted to subscribers, But the free sections are open to all who wish to partcipate. Apparently, the watchdog is open to all. So all you have to do is sign up to post a review.

A member is someone who has signed up to become so; a non-member is someone who has chosen to not sign up at all. So the word "non-member" does have a definition, at least IMHO.

In any case, Badseed and I understood each other perfectly.
