Great job on the last thread everyone! If you would like a look back here is the link. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1189102/
While we were at the Meadows in Cape May we came upon a Mute Swan with 4 little ones. Here is one while the other is searching for food.
DAILY BIRD PICS VOL. 405
Swans are a good way to start a thread. Beautiful birds. This is a mute swan that I have a print on canvas. This bird was a fixture to birders at Lake Hefner in OKC. She always hung out with a domestic goose around a canal outlet. Last winter someone shot her twice. She was taken to WildCare Oklahoma where she recuperated. Her friend was captured and they were relocated on a neighborhood lake where they will be safer. A happy ending to a near tragic story.
Loved the Mute Swans pic. Glad the one that was shot recuperated.
Donna
Red, that mockingbird juvie is just so cute.
Granny, great pictures of your grackle and wp. Glad the wp stood it's ground and they decided to share.
Lilly, sure pretty photos of the geese and heron.
Pelle, thank you for the great new start. The mute swans are so pretty.
Red, that swan is beautiful. I'm glad the incident ended well and that they're safe now.
I love watching the younger orioles discover new things each day. Finally after three years of trying, I've found a few juvies that are loving the oranges on the branches.
This oriole had me laughing as I watched it trying to figure out how to get to the sugar water down below. It would watch the other birds drinking, but just couldn't figure out how to get down that far. It finally drank the water in the ant guard and flew off to another feeder where it was finally successful in figuring everything out.
LOL re. that Oriole duc.
Love the swans too. Great shots all.
Great shots all!
ducbucln, I really like that Oriole. It is fun watching the birds trying to figure out the feeders. I once had a Goldfinch on top of our tube feeder not quite understanding the concept. It kept seeing its reflection on the shiny metal top, or something.
Here is a Brown Thrasher singing its heart out.
I stepped out on the front porch yesterday morning with the camera in hand. I was really peeking around the corner of the house to see if any new daylilies had opened up. But this little Indigo Bunting came and landed in my birch tree so had to take his pic!! He has been very elusive this year. I see him out except when ever I have the camera! lol
Nanny_56,
That is a great picture. We've only seen them a couple times this year and never got great pictures. Our daylilies are starting to explode.
Very nice I. Bunting Nan. CB, cute cardinal and Brown Thrasher, Duc the Sparrows seem to be devoted parents. some writer even have mentioned that, "They don't mean to be a bother..." seeing your sparrow moma, that helps confirmed that I've seen a pair--both a male and a female HOSP at the feeder today.

Great shots everyone!
What a peaceful scene Lily with your heron.
Oh...bad squirrel...but nice shot of your cardinal GG!
Darn those Tree Rats!!
Nice pic GG; sorry about the feeder.
Chillybean, cute photos of your thrasher and cardinal.
Nanny, so glad you finally caught that beautiful bunting-he's just gorgeous.
Lily, your heron and the water look so tranquil-great job.
Granny, such a pretty cardinal. Naughty squirrel!
I was so happy to see my little Brewer's Blackbird I call Stubbie. He was gone for a few weeks but returned for just one day to eat some peanuts. Looks like his shorter bill isn't bothering him at all.
Nanny, please note that I am green with envy over that bunting! LOL
Duc, hooray for Stubbie. Reminds me of little Scooter the white-tailed Junco from last winter. LOL
Nice shots Chillybean. Lily, that water and heron make me wish I were sitting there with it! On second thought, my legs are much shorter than his, so I would probably need a snorkle tube!! Still it is tempting. This humidity stinks!
poor Song Sparrow! So far I have not seen any birds bringing juvie cowbirds but it is early. Just have gotten the first juvie orioles and cardinals coming this week
I find it very interesting how quickly the orioles get the young to feed themselves! Of course they are on the fast track to develop before it is time to migrate south.....so all the more amazing to me.
This one is already on its own to come down and get the jelly instead of being fed by an adult. Doesn't seem to mind the Red-bellied Woodpecker at all.
Helen... thanks for the new start! Beautiful swan babies!
Lily... I always enjoy the view from your deck!
reddirtretiree... those are some beautiful swans too! Love the close-up!
Duc... I know many don't like the HoSp, but I think your close-up of the male is beautiful! Great lighting!
Chillybean... nice shots of the female cardinal and the thrasher!
Nanny.... beautiful bunting shot! So many around here see them, but I never have! :o(
Lily again... that is a gorgeous silhouette shot of the heron!
GrannyGrunt... I really like your male cardinal shot. My male cardinal is so skittish, he can hear me get up from the chair and is gone before I can get the shot!
Duc again... fabulous feather deatil on the blackbird! Wow!
Burn... I like your whole set, but that one of the song sparrow on the pine limb is stunning!
Margaret... I always enjoy seeing "your" birds! Those corellas are beautiful!
Nanny again... love your "sharing" photo of the red-bellied and oriole. I like the family of cardinals too!
Hope everyone has been well!
